An EgyptAir flight heading from Paris to Cairo has disappeared from radar, the airline tweeted.

I think it was to now that I think about it. Had to look it after I posted that. But even with a stall the plane still descends like the sully Usair flight. Flight aware shows no descent. Just cruising altitude then nothing.
There was an obstetrician in the Boston area named Dr. Shortsleeves..
.
Egypt air board member on CNN reporting that there were three security personnel on board.
Nobody wants to be wrong. It’s still remotely possible that the plane might have been able to ditch.
And airline experts saying three security people is rather high for such a small amount of passengers.
Also read on Twitter that the disappearance of this plane was not announced to the public until TWO HOURS AFTER ITS EXPECTED LANDING TIME IN CAIRO??? How does that stay quiet? Is that even true?
They’re born into it. It’s internalized before they are even old enough to know what’s being done to them.

Strange that it was at 37000 ft when it was 10 miles out, no?
I always assume that is what it is, until they prove otherwise.
I get that. But no one is saying, even gently, that ditching is fairly unlikely in this case.
“Strange that it was at 37000 ft when it was 10 miles out, no?”
Extremely strange——makes absolutely no sense.

hate to link the NY Slimes but they do have this bit on their blog:
They did not radio for help or lose altitude, said Ehab Mohy el-Deen, the head of Egypts civil aviation service. They just vanished.
He said that Greek air traffic controllers notified their Egyptian counterparts that they lost contact with the plane shortly before it was due to enter Egyptian airspace.
He added that it was too early to speculate on the cause of the disappearance or the fate of the airplane. But, he added, this is not normal, of course.

Yes and it is like the neighbor kid is teaching you the board game and it sure seems like he is making up rules as you go along...
Prayers offered up.
10 miles from land or 10 miles from the airport?
Goodbody mortuary in San Diego.
10 miles out from Egypt airspace. Still a hundred or more miles from Cairo. Most flights I’m on the pilot comes on just after you feel the plane start to descend and they always say we are about 60-65 miles away from our destination and have begun our descent and they usually give a weather and gate update.
10 miles inside Egypt airspace, or about 50 miles from land.
Will try to find a map of the destination and of Mediterranean airspace.
Agreed.
My question, as well.
The U.S. has an air defense zone off the coast. Maybe Egypt has something similar and it was 10 miles from that. If so, it could be maybe 210 miles off the coast, but 10 miles from the air defense zone?
