The Marseillaise was preceded by "Die Wacht am Rhein" (the guard on the Rhine), a German patriotic song.

Funny enough that I only watched Casablanca completely from start to finish 2 years ago because my GF kept nagging me. My entire life i couldn;t finish it. Then after watching it, i realized that Casablanca and Gone with the Wind’s Scarlet O Hara are the same and both have the same message...

that women are manipulative ******* that use men.

Rick: “Sascha, take her home in a cab.”

Sascha: [smiles]

Rick: “And come right back.”

Sascha: [moping] “Yes, boss.”

Ronald Reagan and Ann Sheridan were apparently the first choices for the roles that went to Bogart and Bergman.

Yes, that’s what prompts the French national anthem. The Krauts are drowned out by Madeleine Lebeau.

She’s lovely in this. And, of course, Rick, the tough guy, helps she and her husband out.

We should play Marseilles in her honor.

My girlfriend insisted I read Gone with the Wind, she said it was literature. So after much resistance, I finally did. In the middle of the book, I suddenly got it and told her, “Hey wait a mind, Scarlet O Hara is a bitch!”

She replied, “yep.”

So I said, “But I thought she was the heroine.”

She replied, “yep.”

I love classic movies. I;m just saying that both these women are manipulative b******.

Rhett didn’t say “Dear, I don’t give a damn’ because Scarlett was a graceful woman. She was a b*tch who used Rhett and other dudes to get what she wants.

The "Marseillaise" remained the official national anthem of the French State, as the Vichy regime was officially known, but among Vichy supporters, this was probably much more popular.
