CLEVELAND – When Republicans held their 2008 national convention in Minneapolis, demonstrators ran through the streets smashing windows and dumping trash cans.
Similarly rowdy protests already are following presumptive presidential nominee Donald Trump wherever he goes – but will Cleveland, the site of this year’s convention and a city already reeling from racially charged police-shooting cases, be ready?
Steve Loomis, president of the Cleveland Police Patrolmen’s Association, says they’re not yet.
“I don’t think that we’re anywhere we need to be for it,” Loomis said.
He warned that 2,000 riot suits were ordered late. And cops were not measured until after the order was placed. Meanwhile, bikes for mounted patrols have not arrived -- and Loomis says there is not adequate time to train with the gear.
“You have to be proficient in being able to use this stuff and right now, we're not,” he said. “We don't even have gas masks at this point."

This guy wants an excuse for when the police allow the rioting to progress unencumbered, like in Ferguson. The Ohio Governor, John Kasich, should send in the Ohio National Guard into Cleveland to protect the convention and Trump.
If they try to steal it from Trump; THERE WILL BE HELL TO PAY.

This isn’t a stereotype situation. Cleveland is extremely proud of its comeback as a very fine choice for conventions and tourists. Across the political and social spectrum, locals want it to work.

I have a 3-cell sitting 16” from my right hand as I type this, another 3 cell in my bedroom, a 5 cell in my truck, and a two “AA” cell in (each) my car, scooter, work locker and shop. There are also a few eveready 6V lights here and there in my little domain, but I am a true believer in MagLite.
And right there is what went wrong. They should have fired directly AT the targets in front of them - the ones that had been looting and rioting for days and throwing things at the trained armed killers pointing assault rifles at them.
By the time you bring out those kind of forces you must be ready to order them to shoot to kill if the mob doesn’t get the hint. Those people are not trained to scare the stupid into submission, they are trained to KILL TARGETS ON COMMAND and using them for anything less is like using C4 for fireworks on the 4th of July.
