Audiosocket sued Ted Cruz in federal court Monday, charging that the former Republican presidential candidate and his campaign's Hollywood-based advertising firm used music that it owns for political purposes without permission.

According to GeekWire.com, the background music in the Cruz video titled "Victories" is from the recording "Lens" by Sarah Schachner. Likewise, the video "Best to Come," features music by Brad Couture called "Fear of Complacency."

Fair use applies to live events. Anyone can play the music at a live event and pay the standard fee. When musicians complain about candidates using them at events they know they have no legal recourse, they just are making a fuss. Using it in film or TV is completely different. You need to get rights from the owner.

No, it sounds like they had a standard license to play the music at their events, which anyone can get for a fee. They needed a specific license to use the songs in a film, just like if they were making a car commercial.

"They got the wrong license, they put it on TV, they realized they shouldn't have put it on TV, they called asking for permission, we said no, they didn't come clean at that time and they kept broadcasting," Audiosocket's chief executive Brent McCrossen told GeekWire.com.

Eggsactly. Sounds like Goldman Sachs Ted gonna fork it over. Hey, Cruz could take up a collection for the 2 $million.

$5, $10, $20, $100... whatever you can... and suckers will send $$$$$$$.

—>they called asking for permission, WE SAID NO!! they kept broadcasting,”

“That’s why we took the approach we did, because the facts of the matter were so astonishing,” McCrossen said, referring to Audiosocket’s filing of a suit in a U.S. District Court in Seattle.”

“The lawsuit is seeking $2 million, according to The Seattle Times, charging $25,000 for each claimed breach of contract, plus damages. The Times reported that one of the ads aired on the Fox Business Channel 86 times. The “Best to Come” ad has been viewed on YouTube 12,000 times.”

After careful consideration you are simply a nut. Whatever meds you are taking you need more.

Time to stop gratuitously kicking Cruz - serves no real purpose and this sort of story is akin to the crap they were trying to use against Trump.

GO TRUMP!!!!

His team got the wrong license, asked permission to use it anyway, were denied, and still used it.

One more sign that his own folks were stepping on their own junk while he called trump disorganized.

Also irrelevant for now because Cruz is out no matter how much whine he makes with his sour grape crop - Trump is our guy and Hillary is our target....

Fine.

I have spent a great deal of time searching, analyzing data and stats to promote Trump’s presidency. Posted dozens of articles. And received hundreds of responses, many of them negative towards Trump or me for posting them.

If I choose to post an article not related to Trump on any topic I WILL!

You are not the thought police or in charge of this forum. I will continue to post articles related to politicians of either stripe and you will have to deal with this.

Good for you.

Let me invite you to also donate to FR as a sign that you are actually a responsible citizen who believes in pulling his/her own weight.

Lots of huffy folks claiming to espouse certain principles/attributes then acting more like our Leftists counterparts in that area.....

You aren’t funny, just hateful and petty. You are also attacking a conserative senator, one I plan to vote for. If you want Cruz supporters to move on then posters like you need to chill.

Why? He's a Cubanadian. Does he have a primary opponent yet?

Cruz is a pathological liar who has lied about things like his immigration history in front of millions of people. Here's an example of his documented history in support of amnesty up to 2015:

I plan to fight against Cruz for the senate and to replace him with someone who is hopefully not a sociopathic liar.
