Ryan sets schedule for Thursday Trump meetings

Donald Trump will meet face-to-face with Speaker Paul Ryan at 9 a.m. on Thursday at the RNC, according to a GOP leadership source familiar with the schedule.

RNC Chairman Reince Priebus will sit in the meeting, too.

A second meeting including Ryan, Trump and a larger roster of GOP leadership will follow. Attendees will include Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.), Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Wash.), and Deputy Whip Patrick McHenry (R-N.C.)

There will be no press availability after, but Ryan will do an on-camera availability later that morning, the source said.

Trump has no plans to meet with Trump endorsers at this time, according to two additional sources familiar with this schedule. But supporters will meet Friday morning with the Trump campaign’s Hill liaisons to discuss how the meeting went and next steps forward.

Ryan, like most politicians think they know how to negotiate. They don’t. They know how to perform a shakedown because usually they have what you want, ie, permits or some such nonsense (they can’t negotiate with foreign leaders or the POTUS that’s for damned sure).

In this case, Ryan brings very little that Trump could want, as a matter of fact, with Ryan’s opponent passing him in polling, Trump would be smart to distance himself from Ryan and start to talk with Nehlan instead.

But, in the meantime, he should get what he can from Ryan. Sit down, let the buffoon pretend he’s negotiating with Trump, and then make it perfectly clear that “I don’t need you Paul, you need me... now what can you offer?”

Trump can kill Ryan’s re-election. And he should.

Ryan will explain his dilemma. Did he make a deal with the Bushes? Donors? He will ask Trump to leave him alone for the time being. Trump will agree.

Trump wants a pleasant, united convention- which he won’t get by firing Ryan.
Other than that Ryan has no leverage.

Ryan wants electoral help for his Open Border RINOs, don’t know what Trump can do for them except make campaign appearances.

The Ultimate Leverage! And Trump is all about leverage.
