LONDON (AP) — London Mayor Sadiq Khan on Tuesday slammed Donald Trump's "ignorant" view of Islam, after the Republican presidential contender suggested Khan could be exempted from a proposed temporary ban on Muslims entering the United States.
Last year Trump proposed "a total and complete" ban on foreign Muslims entering the U.S. "until our country's representatives can figure out what the hell is going on."
Asked how that policy would affect London's first Muslim mayor, Trump told The New York Times that "there will always be exceptions."
But Khan said "this isn't just about me — it's about my friends, my family and everyone who comes from a background similar to mine, anywhere in the world."
"Donald Trump's ignorant view of Islam could make both our countries less safe — it risks alienating mainstream Muslims around the world and plays into the hands of the extremists," Khan said in a statement.
Khan, the London-born son of Pakistani immigrants, was elected last week by a wide margin after a campaign that saw his Conservative rival Zac Goldsmith accuse him of having shared platforms with Islamic extremists.
Khan, a former human rights lawyer and Labour Party lawmaker, accused Goldsmith of trying to frighten and divide voters in a multicultural city of 8.6 million people — more than 1 million of them Muslims.
The mayor said Tuesday that Trump and people who agree with him "think that western liberal values are incompatible with mainstream Islam - London has proved him wrong."
Trump said he was "happy to see" Khan's election and hoped "he does a good job."
The mayor declined to lend Trump his support.
"I'll be backing the Democratic candidate — Hillary Clinton, who I suspect it will be — and I hope that she trounces him," Khan told the BBC.

It terrifies me too. It was a screen capture from a video... It was the most difficult, vomit inducing things I've seen. People have criticized me for posting that shot, and in some ways I don't blame them. However, America has to understand what we're dealing with. Every politician should be forced to see the video of the other three Chrisitans undergoing that Muslim ritual. If they did, they'd fire Ryan and his Muslim sympathizers in a heartbeat.

If you look at the history of “Christian” Lebanon closely, you will see how it went from “normal” to “Muslim.” The same scenario is playing out in Europe, the UK in particular. The refugees come in, they overwhelm the local populace, they do NOT conform to the culture setting up their own, then there are enough of them to vote for their own government, then they all start wearing burkas and facing east forcing all others to or face death. "Diversity" is all about homogenizing American culture with incongruous foreign culture, to facilitate that dismantling. "Social Justice" is all about destroying the natural social fabric.
The Left are totally consistent. They just do not ascribe to any form of morality which inhibits them tactically in any way. Yes. For once, Trump was trying to be diplomatic. However, the Muslim Mayor thought it would hurt his street cred. to be seen as accepting anything from Trump without immediately insulting him.

Agreed. I have no desire to see any images of beheadings & they shouldn’t be forced on us. I watched the Nick Berg beheading video & regret it to this day. HUGE mistake.
