Malia Obama Goes to Harvard: Liberals' Kids Get the Golden Ticket While Yours Get Scraps
Townhall ^ | 05/05/2016 | Kurt Schlichter

Posted on 05/06/2016 8:23:22 AM PDT by SeekAndFind

Usually, the admission of another rich child of privilege to the selective liberal finishing school known as Harvard is a non-story. But in the case of Malia Obama, it provides yet another example of the cynical elitism of modern liberals.

FULL STOP: This is where liberal liars will try to distract you from the glaring hypocrisy of the elite by accusing me of attacking the innocent child of Barack Obama. It’s unclear whether this reflexive misdirection is the result of them being too stupid to understand an argument or whether they are simply falling back on their default move, dishonesty, or whether it is some combination of both. I’m better on the latter.

Now, Malia may well be fully qualified for Harvard in the way some other young person would need to be – through grades, activities and talents. We don’t know, any more than we know her father’s grades at any of the revered institutions of higher indoctrination he allegedly attended. But what is interesting was the immediate assumption on social media that her admittance was something to congratulate her on, as if there was any doubt that the daughter of a rich, liberal president was going to get into whatever elite college she chose. She’s not a student; she’s a status symbol. Take that, Yale!

And take that, West Point! The special snowflakes of the elite don’t join the military. That’s for lesser mortals. Let them dirty their hands protecting the ungrateful and smug mandarins of the coastal elites. No, the elite’s spawn’s glorious presence on our soil is service enough. Tens of thousands of regular Americans will earn their GI Bill carrying rifles in places that will not appear on any rich kid’s itinerary. In contrast, Malia will spend her “gap year” in a festival of self-actualization traveling the world unraveling the mystery that is Malia.

CARTOONS | ROBERT ARIAIL VIEW CARTOON Once she finally arrives in Cambridge, she will behold the wonders of her inheritance of a future of power and privilege. Harvard and its academic siblings, American culture’s spoiled institutional trust fund children, fully intend to safeguard their position as the conformity factories manufacturing America’s leadership class. They are an assembly line of indoctrination that bolts together elitists out of socialism, amorality and entitlement, and then sets them loose on American society reeking of that new snob smell. These graduates are mostly liberal, but the elite universities also graduate many of our conservative leaders, to the extent there are conservative leaders anymore in the wake of the Trump Schism.

Not a lot of the Trump Train’s passengers went to Harvard, though if he wins the nomination we’ll certainly see enterprising Ivy League grads trying to weasel their way into positions of power in the new order. Trump’s rebellion is a visceral reaction to the kind of power and privilege Harvard represents, and to the shameless entitlement of the class into which Malia Obama and a few thousand other budding Veruca Salts are annually invited.

The rest of us are permanently left on the outside of the velvet rope. And we are getting tired of it.

It’s odd that the left is not recoiling to the shameful elitism this latest example demonstrates. It really shows that the Sanders insurgency was less about reforming the system than about the suckers demanding a few more scraps from the elite’s table. All they wanted was to be bought off with subsidized college. They were not interested in overturning the table; they simply wanted a place at it.

What is most shameful is how the elite talks such a great game about education and the plight of inner city minority children, then leaves those same kids to the mercy of incompetent hacks in schools mired in chaos and dysfunction. The elite chooses the unions over the kids every single time because union slugs vote and contribute and little black kids in the inner city don’t.

Malia went to private school, of course. No parent with an option would send their kids into the hellhole of the Washington, D.C. education cesspit, and that’s really the point. The elites deny poor kids any help – no charter schools, no teacher accountability, no prioritizing learning over union featherbedding. They’ll sacrifice your kids for their own power, but their kids? Their kids get the education yours deserve too.

So congratulations, Malia, on your golden ticket into the elite. Good for you – in the sense that everything liberals like your parents do will be good for you and for people like you. Everyone else, though? Well, we don’t matter.

There’s your first lesson in liberalism. See, just because you take a gap year doesn’t mean you can’t learn something.

Rich people always get better than the poor. It’s the foundation of our economic system.

The science and medicine schools and departments at Harvard are still great!!!!

Unfortunately, the clinton Foundation, etc. help determine research priorities.

The gap year at Harvard is offered to legacy students who don’t qualify for admission. At least that’s always been the case for several students I’ve known. The school must figure that with another year’s maturity the student might be able to be successful at the school.

Well said.

Sound like political indoctrination has poisoned even the hard sciences.

The Ivies strike me as largely a status thing for people not studying a real science or useful occupation.

If we could roll back rewarding people for political correctness, and let the free market reward people for delivering real goods and services, we’d be way ahead.

Trump’s a step in the right direction.

My daughter is an excellent scholar She not only got the typical ads from Harvard they actually sent her an unsolicited application I told her she could apply if she wanted but the application fee was on her Furthermore if she got in and decided to go there it was all on her Not a penny of mine would go to that liberal cesspit. Fortunately she shares our family values and never returned the app. And mom and dad proudly paid for her undergrad degree minus her scholarships

If a child of mine went to Harvard I don’t know how I would live down the embarrassment Obama and Harvard deserve each other

It is indeed interesting how President 0bama was a complete ghost at university.
Were I to run for POTUS there are thousands of classmates, professors, coaches, coworkers, and any number of others who could recall me dating back to when I was a toddler.

It is a question if Malia genuinely has the background to really attend a top school, or if she will just be a mysterious person who automagically receives a diploma, just like her invisible-before-Chicago community organizer father.

“I have problems with affirmative action which basically has partially destroyed the hopes and dreams of minorities to have good jobs.”

i’m not sure what world you are talking about? affirmative action employment is alive and well in the government and in the private sector. minorities are chosen over non-minorities because it satisfies the public face of private corporations which preach diversity is strength, and ensures within the government that senior executives in the federal service satisfy racial and gender specific employment goals. regardless of the potential employee’s skills, the minority in almost all instances is given the benefit of their race or gender in the selection process.

Malaria and Harvard deserve each other. Each can continue in their respective bubbles of leftist utopias, while riding herd over the plebes.

More arugala, NOW!

Jeff Danziger had a great cartoon when Chelsea was trying to decide which college to attend.

The Stanford recruiters were showing her a map of the United States with one dot marked "Stanford" and one dot marked "Mom."

That was probably the clincher.

As long as the Taxpayers aren’t paying her Tuition, I wish her well.

I have bigger fish to fry.

The good news for Harvard students is they won’t be bothered by Secret Service agents shadowing Malia. She’s over 16, which means her SS protection ends on 1/20/2017.
