With the news that Gov. John Kasich (R-OH) will suspend his fruitless campaign for president Wednesday at 5PM its worth asking the obvious question: Why now?
Kasich lost every single caucus and primary over the past several months except for his home state of Ohio. Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) has more delegates for the nomination than Kasich and hes been out of the race for weeks. So why stay in as long as he did just to drop out when the race finally comes down to just two candidates?
Lets focus on a few key moments of the past several weeks that could lend one to believe that Kasichs main goal was not to win the nomination (obviously) and not to stop Donald Trump for locking up the nomination. No, it appears Kasichs main goal was to stop Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and he succeeded.

Then why does he act like its such a brilliant idea? All Trump had to say was he hasn’t zeroed in on anybody. Everyone’s pushing him on this because of Ohio. I’m praying he still keeps his own counsel but Reagan got saddled with Bush.

so you are willing to dish it out and yet when the trump fans did the same to your guy you got offended and said how awful it was that Cruz was defamed.
Do you not see how your post is kind of hypocritical? if one wishes to complain how ones candidate was treated going about it in the manner you have pretty much reduces your case to ...just a silly rant.
“Occams Razor. Kasich is a nutcase.”
Exactly. He really thought he was the only one who could get elected president, so he needed to stay in the race until a contested convention, where, by his logic, he’d prevail and become the nominee.
Even nutcases can realize that when the improbable path you have set your heart on becomes impossible, it’s time to go home.
It was now a done deal, Trump would not be facing a brokered convention, so no reason to continue. The donors saw that and said they were moving on to better pastures anyway. So that was the end, Kasich was finished as soon as Cruz dropped out.
End of story.
But... I still think it was that tweet I sent him. Laugh. Laugh all you want. Yup. It was my tweet. Then he dropped out. Thank me some other time. I said, “Kasich, there is a pancake house at (address) that says they will honor you with free tall stacks and coffee every single Monday morning for the rest of the year if you drop out”... and he did.
I agree with you that Cruz ran a horrible campaign. One mistake after another starting c. Jan. 25.
“Bravado is NOT what we want in a candidate.”
Correct; that would be terrible. Obama has absolutely no bravado, dislikes the United States, two characteristics that Trump does not have and which is why Obama has been so good for the nation and the world.
On the other hand, bravado types like George Patton and Douglas MacArthur, who, along with Trump, love America, were horrible people.
#in before Cruzlims stop whining and dreaming up insane excuses why Second Coming lost
In Indiana, a state in which Cruz had good numbers earlier, Trump won with 53% of the vote. In a winner-take-all state.
It would not have mattered if it was Cruz alone against Trump, Trump would still have won. Cruz has been increasingly rejected by a majority of Republican voters.
As much as I too oppose Buckeye Kasich, I don’t see how we repudiate a Trump-Kasich ticket, as bad as the VP candidate would be.
A year ago I figured Cruz was a smart guy and a lousy campaigner.
Teaming up with Glenn Beck and Snarly Carly made me wonder about the first part.
But he’s a young fellow and will have many more years to improve his game.
By being able to self-fund, Trump is not vulnerable to being betrayed by having his funding from big-money donors suddenly shut off in the middle of the campaign.
He can take GOP money, but can go the distance without it. This allows him to give the finger to any or all of the big-money donors, whenever he wants. He can use their money, and keep his own money in reserve.
I think you are right. I also think they have other motives and this is not the end of it.
The Cruz people (people I know who have huge AZ connections) are beside themselves today and have said they do not wish to be precinct committee chairman anymore, etc. They are just sick that Cruz is out.
Don’t forget his strippers! Trumps got strippers! Woo hoo! Go Trump!
I would feel completely betrayed. Kasich is the polar opposite of what Trump has campaigned on. If he would go there, how do I believe the wall, the trade, or any of it. Kasich would do me in.
agree.. fully
I agree.
Looks that way to me.
I don’t think you make comments you don’t have a basis for making.
When he claimed he was going to do very well in the Bible Belt, then didn’t, that revealed his lack of understanding to me.
Mistakes like that cost you. People start waking up...
I agree with that.
Cruz was supposedly 20 points ahead in the last month or perhaps a little more.
That’s a real cave in.
