Now that Donald J. Trump is the presumptive presidential nominee, a parade of prominent Republican leaders is breaking with the traditions and rituals of party unity and offering him a blunt message:
Nope. Never. I cant. I wont.
In a flurry of social media posts and interviews over the last 24 hours, these Republicans raced to distance themselves from Mr. Trump, delivering a remarkable rebuke to him at precisely the moment when parties usually coalesce around a candidacy.
Mark Salter, a longtime strategist for Senator John McCain of Arizona, sounded resigned and disgusted as he said the unthinkable: He was now prepared to back Hillary Clinton.
The GOP is going to nominate for President a guy who reads the National Enquirer and thinks its on the level, he wrote on Twitter late Tuesday. Im with her.
The dissenters, who range from wizened elders to younger strategists and even elected officials, are loudly and publicly proclaiming their unwillingness to support Mr. Trump.
Many have expressed reservations about him in the past, but left open the possibility they might back him in the future. Now they are forcefully foreclosing that option.

Why in world did you send that post to ME?
Because you get it as shown by your post #49.
Again proving that you don’t know me, and you don’t know what I have and have not done. I often get accused of spending TOO MUCH time and effort researching candidates. I have quit with mainstream media, and am extremely leery of most of the rest of the “other” media (blogs, news aggregators, and other wild stuff).
But you again proved that you have ignored facts, ignored Trumps DOCUMENTED record. You have bought in to the Trump rhetoric of the last 8 months. How can you actually believe Trump when what he says does not match his history?
Here we will have to differ. I have gone back and watched original source material from over the last 20 years. I find Trump consistent, blunt, and a bit of an exaggerator for effect. Since my mentors told me this was the way to keep the attention of your audience the last trait doesn’t bother me a bit. I have ignored no facts my only parting of company was on the ethanol issue & no candidate is perfect.
I do not need to know you or what you have done to know you have not researched Trump extensively or with an open mind.
What are you suggesting?
You're fortunate - Ted Cruz is no longer in the running...
Vote Conservative!
Yes, indeed. I'm voting Trump, a conservative.
Interesting how group think causes people to become so defensive they completely lose any resemblance of a sense of humour.
