"Donald Trump's Secret Service detail and private bodyguards had the last laugh on Friday as hundreds of protesters swarmed at the front of a San Francisco airport hotel trying to block him from coming in for a speech at the state Republican Party's annual convention.
Instead of partnering with uniformed police in riot shields trying to push the hordes back, they did a law-enforcement head fake – leading the billionaire across a grass highway median and in a back-door loading dock at the Hyatt Regency hotel in the suburb of Burlingame.
The move left Trump feeling like he was crossing the U.S.-Mexico border, he said.
Led by his regular protective detail and Trump's private bodyguard Keith Schiller, the Republican front-runner's arrival became a full-blown media spectacle, with cable news channels interrupting their broadcasts for helicopter live-shots.
Their audiences were treated to the sight of the 69-year-old Trump hopping nearly three feet down from a cement barrier to the grass below, and then climbing uphill in his expensive suit and shoes while local police and California Highway Patrol kept liberal activists at bay on the other side of the hotel."

This IS a man who actually goes to the construction sites of his hotels. Climbing barriers, plodding across grass (and mud and snow) is not alien to him as it is to many lawyers or community organizer types.
I have this awful mental image of them all clacking together underneath the chopper...

Of course if they’d just picked off a few of the protesters the rest would have scattered and he could have sauntered in the front door...

Reminds me of RR’s visit to Ottawa in March 1981. Hundreds of lefty protestors at the Bronson Ave. and Colonel By Dr. bottleneck and dozens of Ottawa cops... the motorcade turned from Bronson onto Riverside Dr. about 3/4 of a mile before Col By exit, far enough away that the protestors could not see for the snow and drizzle... the protestors continued protesting for another 1/2 hour in the snow and freezing rain! My buddies and I waited at the South end of Carleton University and saw the detour of the motorcade, then went back in. We were disappointed by not seeing Mr. Reagan, but we were very happy about the protestors freezing their butts off, down the road. It was the best laugh I ever had at Carleton University!

Can’t we please keep secrets anymore in this country? I don’t need to see protection methods for Presidents or candidates advertised on TV.
It looked like the back door entrance plan was set up ahead of time. Why couldn’t someone put a piece of wood at the end of the concrete so everyone could walk down a ramp? When Trump jumped down from the concrete, I was afraid his brittle, old-people bones would break.
I re-read Art of War every couple of years. It’s so brilliant in its simplicity. Almost everything in it leaves me saying “of course this is what you should do.”.
Seems like security was not well prepared.
Are going to absolutely drive more American voters to Trump...as well they should.
He has called out the problem and they are simply demonstrating it in spades.
Most Americans will simply not countenance thugs and ruffians waving foreign flags trying to tell Americans how to vote. It's going to make for all the more landslide.
