A cadet at The Citadel said he is being punished with 33 hours of marching after he revealed in a Facebook post that the school was considering allowing an incoming cadet to wear a hijab in uniform.
The cadet, senior political science student Nick Pinelli, said officials at the public military college originally sought to charge him with behavior unbecoming to a cadet, a Class I offense that can lead to dismissal under the schools disciplinary code. Instead, he said the school reduced the charge to gross poor judgment and handed him the maximum punishment: 40 tours, each consisting of 50 minutes of silent marching with a rifle in a barracks quadrangle. Pinelli, who has also been working as an intern for Donald Trumps presidential campaign, must complete the tours before graduating on May 7.
Pinellis April 13 Facebook post led to national media coverage and sparked heated debate among Citadel cadets and alumni about the issue of the hijab, a head covering worn by some Muslim women. The Citadel is considering accepting a Muslim freshman who has asked to be able to wear the head scarf an exception to the schools military dress code. No final decision has been made on the issue.
If I valued liberal ideology, I would go to UC Berkeley, Pinelli wrote in the post.
Col. Brett Ashworth, a spokesman for The Citadel, declined to comment on whether Pinelli is being punished. Due to FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act), I cant discuss individual disciplinary action, Ashworth wrote in an email.
The officials most likely would have booted him right out of school had this story not received media coverage.
That's all????????? WTF????????
Telling the truth is conduct unbecoming to a cadet?
The Citadel is considering accepting a Muslim freshman
For this alone, these officials should be COURT MARTIALED!!~
Go to jihadwatch.org & look this up. Some jerk calling himself “rev” says Citadel cadets have no rights whatsoever when it comes to free speech, and Cadet Pinelli is getting what he deserves for stepping out of line.
IMO “rev” sympathizes with the hijabi Muslimah, too.
This Citadel policy is illogical. Muslims cannot swear allegiance to the United States; they are only able to serve Islam.
Here’s what I posted on the Citadel’s Facebook page:
“The citadel of WHAT? YOU PUNISH A CADET FOR TELLING THE TRUTH. South Carolina people have always been honorable and brave... South Carolina leaders have always been sell outs to whatever establishment is in power. Self-preservation v. Honor? http://www.postandcourier.com/.../citadel-cadet-punished..."

Can't believe what has become of my Alma Mater.
Should we pull the headstones of all the Muslims out of Arlington?
THAT is a very good question! In the past history of the United States, did Muslims perceive their citizenship here differently than they do today?
Well you see, actually it is a lie. UC Berkeley is one of the toughest schools in the country to graduate from. The town is leftest - no question - but the students are pretty hardworking actually. And right now it is one of the toughest schools in the country to get into. You don’t decide to go there - you hope you can go there.
Hard to imagine that their perspectives haven't changed. I'm sure it's all across the board.
It’s “gross poor judgement” to tell the truth?
The wearing of the hijab is not required by the Koran.
” I’m sure it’s all across the board. “
I do not understand what you mean by that statement. Please clarify.
I would say that Col. Ashworth has, in that fine military descriptive, “Chickensh!tted out!”
“Well you see, actually it is a lie. “
What was a lie? You say that UC Berkely is not liberal? LOL
What is the Schools' position on Nazi armbands? Is that okay too?
Cause we all want to know what version of FASCISM is currently being pushed by Academia and Government.
The American Left are trying to destroy the country and they aren’t even trying to hide it anymore.
