Donald Trump won a sweeping victory in the Pennsylvania primary and, more importantly, he dominated the fight for the state's 54 unbound delegates to the GOP convention -- making his path to obtaining the 1,237 delegates needed to secure the nomination much easier.
NBC News reached out to all 54 delegate winners after the polls closed Tuesday night. Interviews reveal that as of Wednesday afternoon 35 said they intend to support Trump on the first ballot at the convention -- a number that could rise north of 40 when the final ten delegates are reached.
Trump's delegate haul is an impressive feat for the candidate who has largely ignored the convoluted and intricate delegate process.

All I have to say is ...Swing State.
What the ‘clever’ Cruz can’t figure out is that the goal is to win votes and that is what wins delegates.
The PA delegate process is anything but convoluted. Every person just votes for the delegates on the ballot. Granted, Trump had to get his delegates on the ballot and then make their names part of his campaign at the local level, which he did. But the “convoluted” adjective usually describes the delegates that get elected through caucuses and multiple local conventions. PA is a straightforward election.
In just the last 8 days Trump has won well over 200 delegates, while Cruz chips away a couple of delegates here and there in the hope of getting to a 2nd ballot, but all of his antics won’t make any difference, because Trump will have more than enough delegates by convention time.
Shhh,don’t tell him.
Hey Ted and Carly, one for each of you!
CNN is showing Trump with 52 total in PA:

Current delegate count according to them, and I have found them to be fairly accurate is:
Trump: 991
Cruz: 568
Kasich: 154

As I predicted on the Primary Thread yesterday, Trump got over 100 of the delegates last night.
I expect he will go well over the top (probably by 50 or more delegates at this point), on June 7th.
If Cruz is interested in the GOP (without any e) winning in November, then he needs to concede next week after Trump (in all likelihood) takes Indiana.
I pray to God that is what he will do. He has the power to:
1) Unite the party by so doing.
2) Deliver a huge blow to the GOPe by so doing.
3) Set up for a big GOP November win.

Paul Manafort seems to have stopped the bleeding!
As soon as the primary purpose of Cruz’ campaign became “stop Trump”, he nosedived.
One law of politics that is still fully operational this cycle is that if all you stand for, is not being someone else, you lose.
I’m tired of the sycophantic Trump hooplah. It’s just as bad as the young Bernie crowd. Trump is a liberal just as bad as hillary is. He says EXACTLY what conservative Republicans want to here. He will not make good on ANY of it. I thought we were supposed to distrust all politicians? Why is that if you have are a billionaire, you can say all you want and we’ll believe you, but look past your record of donations to campaigns and previous remarks on issues? “Oh he’s changed his view” is not an answer!!!
What bleeding? Cruz wasn’t winning when he came on board and Cruz still isn’t winning
Yep. And it didn't swing towards Cruz.
Hard to see how he doesn't get to 1237 on first ballot.
Paul Ryan.
, but look past your record of donations to campaigns and previous remarks on issues? Oh hes changed his view is not an answer!!!
He's a giver. Cruz is a taker....
a big giver to the Clintons, yup.
Well Trump was always ahead in the art of persuading voters, I think he meant Trump has caught up on the art of persuading delegates.
Cruz got the GOPe machine to grab delegates though.
He keeps winning across the country, with a few voterless exceptions, and yet Crasich insists that he can’t win. Crasich is either delusional or spiteful.
Not really. Most of these delegates had to declare to the media who they were supporting before the vote. Some said they would support the state winner. The Trump voters seemed to be mostly aware of what delegates to vote for due to Trump distributing the lists online, by mail and at the polls. So this was a direct election, with not much persuasion necessary. Nevertheless, these 54 elected delegates are not bound by the convention rules to vote for anyone. However, they’re probably even more likely to stay loyal to Trump on multiple ballots than most delegates, because they did declare publically before the election how they planned to vote and are answerable to the people who elected them.
Any friendly delegates Cruz has gotten in are mostly bound to their state winner on the first ballot. Only if it goes to a second ballot will Cruz be able to take advantage of their loyalties, unless their state was a Cruz-win state to begin with.
