They keep trying to sell this behavior as “normal” but this tactic would be like shooting themselves in the foot. And on that note … didn’t the conservatives warn them that gay marriage wouldn’t end this fight? Yep … we were right. This is just the next step. After this one becomes mainstream, they’ll move on to the next.
They can ask anything they want. We still answer with name and number of people in the dwelling. End of data flow.

I have been answering the race question as “Other: 440” since about 1970. I have no idea what the options will be for gender. I hope there is an “Other” box where I can make up something truly odd to say.

I am serious. I have copies of all of the letters. They were from US Department of Commerce, part of Census, not IRS. I know it sounds unbelievable, but it happened to me.
They wanted my bank statements and ATM records of withdrawals.
Folks, fill out the number, names, and ages of people, but no more.
There is no legal requirement to fill out the rest. We didn’t.

If everyone in the USA just claims they are minorities,(by mistake,of course) it would sure foul up a lot of their plans.
Trying to integrate the white suburbs,as Obama wants, would be stopped-—there would be no white suburbs shown in the census.

I was once sent a long form Census form. I filled out the applicable portions such as how many people in the home, ages of household members.
I don’t remember all of the questions but there were some regarding whether or not the home had plumbing or electricity, didn’t answer those.
Anything that was not typical to a Census..like ages, names, language spoken in the home, number of residents, whether home was rented or purchased, type of house..the types of things I’ve seen regularly in census reports over the last 150 years was marked with a N/A in each section so that they could see that the answer wasn’t skipped over or forgotten.
Therefore, the form was fully filled out, and sent back. I never heard anything more from it.
I HAVE had census workers come to my door even after filling out and returning the form. They want to do the census again...I always refuse. However, what they WILL do is ask your neighbors and fill out the form anyway. Ok..at least I didn’t have to do it twice.
If according to Roe v Wade you have a RIGHT to privacy, then you have a right to refuse answers to protect your right to privacy. As mentioned...enumeration is all that matters. Nothing more, nothing less.
Finally, I realize that sometimes federal monies are given to a city/county/school district in addition to other services based on the information on the census form, but some states have their own form for that.
I’m not so sure they really want these answers. Then they may find out the truth; that there aren’t hardly any gays or transgenders in the population. Then what?
They collect demographic data by SEX (or "gender" for those who prefer to use that term rather than "sex") and that is all they need to get for the purposes of the census. It seems like only yesterday that the mantra was "sexual orientation is not any business of the government" and now the same folks are insisting that the government has some compelling interest in knowing your sexual orientation. As for gender identity, the same idiots who claim that conservatives are "anti-science" are rejecting biological and scientific truth regarding the scientific FACT that there are TWO and only TWO genders (sexes), i.e. MALE and FEMALE. "Gender Identity" exists only in the imagination of those who reject science.
I don’t give a good da$$ about what 2 elected freaks in Congress want me to answer on the Census.
I will ONLY answer the questions that actually pertain to the COUNTING of the people in the USA.
I have sent the long forms back in the past with N O Y D B (You can figure this out) written in marker on each page. When a second DEMAND came for the information, I just filed it in my desk. Still have it somewhere.
None of their Damned business....and I won’t answer a person sent to my door, either. They are crossing into my property which is posted with NO TRESPASSING signs.

THAT is EXACTLY why they do NOT want the voters rolls purged when people move or die.
