Bill Kristol Names Romney, Rubio, Tom Cotton As Third-Party Prospects If Trump Wins Nomination
Brietbart ^ | 25 Apr 2016 | Patrick Howley

Bill Kristol, son of Irving, names Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) 79% , Mitt Romney, Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) 79% , and others on his hypothetical shortlist of third-party candidates that he could run if Donald Trump becomes the Republican nominee.

The “Weekly Standard” editor and self-styled neoconservative power broker is back to talking about a third party, declaring that a Trump victory in Indiana would force him to re-focus on his so-called “Latter-Day Republicans” independent ticket. A third party could help to split the vote on the Right and elect Hillary Clinton president, which would allow Kristol to stave off the Trump threat and regain control of the party in 2020 without actually having to formally support Clinton.

But Kristol now has a shortlist of predictable options, including Mitt Romney and neoconservative rising star Sen. Tom Cotton of Arkansas.

Yes, they did say they prefer Clinton.

But with a classic neo-con like Kristol, it really makes sense. Essentially, they are conservative ONLY on the national security leg. They were great fans of the first Clinton presidency.

I wonder just who he thinks will vote for them?

Kristol seems to think he should be deciding who the nominee is. What an arrogant POS. He and his so-called newspaper can shove it.

The GOPe tossed up John Anderson as a third party choice in 1980 when the maverick Ronald Reagan won the nomination against the wishes of the party bosses.

No matter who the GOPe sticks on that third party ballot, I expect the same results.

Bill Kristol is simply showing that he is more committed to having Hillary be President than the GOP nominee.

One Trump tweet about George P. Bush will end this.

Essentially, they are conservative ONLY on the national security leg. They were great fans of the first Clinton presidency.

Since when is the neoconservative program of nation-building and global Democracy (disguised as "defense" or "national security") a conservative foreign policy? It owes more to Woodrow Wilson and FDR than to any conservative, and has only come to define GOP foreign policy because of their disproportionate influence. Even within the GOP establishment, the neoconservatives broke with the rest of the party in supporting Obama and Hillary's Libya fiasco.

Kristol hates Trump for his views on immigration and trade, and he also hates Trump for wanting to bring back some sanity to US foreign policy.

The RINOs will put Hillary in the White House just to hold on to power. Our country is on the verge of a revolution just like France in 1789.

Bill Kristol is Example # 1 of the problem in conservative politics. He makes a nice living writing columns and going on TV but he stays within the bounds that the Establishment sets for him and helps to enforce them.

Was a rumor going around a while back that Bush Inc. was trying to get General Mattis to run third party.

I agree. Neo-cons aren’t very conservative at all, but they do like war, so the national security leg is how they get into the conversation.

One Trump tweet about George P. Bush will end this.

How long will it be before the RNC, Rove, and the various GOP PACs try to shove little Jorge P. down voter's throats as a Republican nominee? I'm betting he'll be pushed by the RNC as the "inevitable" candidate by the 2024 primaries.

Bill Kristol will oppose any candidate who is NOT in favor of continual armed global intervention.

I would hate to see Tom Cotton throw in with the Bill Kristol GOPe bunch and lose his political future which has been very promising up till now. Tom Cotton is young and very intelligent and a pro American and has the ability to be a solid presence in the senate. The path to credibility and leadership will be stopped aborning if Arkansas senator Tom Cotton gets sidetracked into an unwinnable and treacherous third party movement which will assure a democrat win in Nov. Rubio and Romney already know better but are not all that bright when it comes to playing political games controlled by their betters.

Kristol is a pimp. He never could have outfought Trump.

But I never knew, until this day, that it was Romney all along.
