During the Maine GOP caucus on March 5, candidate Ted Cruz came out on top with about 46 percent of the vote. Based on the caucus result Cruz was allocated 12 delegates, leaving nine for Trump and two for John Kasich.
cruz quoteMaines Governor Paul LePage coordinated with the Cruz camp, the Trump camp and the Kasich camp to insure the state convention would provide equitable distribution of the delegates based on the caucus result.
This is called a unity ticket, with delegates assigned based on the results of the caucus.
However, during the states convention this weekend the Cruz campaign reneged on the agreement and stabbed the caucus voters in the back. As they have in other state contests, Team Cruz manipulated the delegate selection to gain 19 of the 2o delegates. CNN has more on the events:
(Via CNN) [ ] Cruz collected 19 of the 20 spots up for grabs, with the 20th spot going to Maine Gov. Paul LePage, whos supporting GOP front-runner Donald Trump.
The fight at the states convention Saturday underscores the intense battle for delegates heading into the Republican National Convention in July. Cruzs campaign is pushing for every delegate it can collect to prevent Trump from winning the 1,237 he needs to win the nomination outright and force a floor fight. Even with Saturdays developments, both Cruz and Ohio Gov. John Kasich need to win more delegates than are available in the remaining primary contests to win the GOP nomination on the first ballot.
Ahead of the vote, LePage accused the Cruz campaign of going back on a promise to back a unity slate of the states delegates, a move he portrayed as stabbing us in the back.
In a statement, LePage said, We reached a deal with Cruzs national campaign to put up a unity slate that would honor the wishes of the thousands of Mainers who voted at caucus. But Cruzs Northeast Political Director David Sawyer lied to us and broke the deal. Sawyer stabbed us in the back, reneged on the unity slate, and betrayed the people of Maine.
Though he singled out Sawyer in his statement, LePage said the actions were emblematic of the Cruz campaign. As we have seen throughout the country, Cruzs national campaign is run by greedy political hooligans.
It is outside of reality to claim that by not suppressing stories of Cruz’s lying and dirty tricks we are somehow helping Hillary become president. If Cruz were out of the race the Republican Party could unify behind its candidate Donald Trump that much sooner. Cruz is the divider, and he is a regional candidate who fails in the South and in the Northeast. There is no way that he could beat Hillary even if he were to be the Republican nominee.
The Romans expected moral excellence from their leaders, which included honor and integrity. The recent antics of Cruz in Colorado and Wyoming has proven that he is a man w/o either attribute.

Cruz staying in the race at this point does far more damage "unity" than stating the facts about Ted's lies being discussed does.
Neither Ted or the GOPe give a damn about unity anyway, they care about keeping their racket going and Ted being the Party designated "outsider" is an integral part of that racket.
Cruz would rather put the convention in turmoil by staying in the race. If he does, he will have succeeded in giving the Democrats the win in November. If he is going to lose, he will make damned sure everyone else loses too.
.... If I ever find out that Mr. Trump has prevaricated during his campaign ...... Then that is it!!!!!
.... It will be proof that he has been inducted into the ranks of what is known as the T-SOP .... "The Secret Order of Politicians."
..... THAT!!!! .... Will be intolerable!
Based on Trump’s statements ten months ago about whether the RNC was going to be “fair”, I really don’t think any of this came as a surprise to him. He realized from the beginning that an “outsider” stood no chance if they relied on delegate shenanigans.
He said from the beginning that he would need to get enough bound delegates to win on the first vote, because the people chosen as delegates are usually the long-time veteran campaign volunteers whose loyalty would be to the establishment. It doesn’t matter who the delegates are if he has more than 1237 bound on the first vote, whether they love Trump or hate him, they are BOUND.
Trump is harping on this not to benefit this current campaign — because he knew second-round voting was a losing strategy for an outsider — but to force changes in the Primary and Convention process to make it easier for future outsiders. He loves watching Cruz dig his hole deeper and feed the “rigged” meme. He could not have anticipated that Cruz would play so dirty, making agreements and backstabbing, but he has capitalized on it.
Ted Cruz is a public relations neophyte compared to Trump. He walked into Trump’s trap, setting himself at odds with the voters and thinking people would applaud his lawyer weaseling.

Real unity building terms the supporters of Ted Cruz use.
“Lyin’ Ted” at least points to the candidates perceives issue with truthfulnes and is not simply a blatant ad hominem attack upon his supporters.
And now we know why Ted should just go back to his day job as a career government employee
Then maybe Ted ought to quit lying
Once I might have supported Trump but I’ll never do it now after witnessing the cowardice of his attacks on Ted and Heidi Cruz.
And those of his fans.
All Trump has is the smear while he cowers in fear of any one on one debate with Cruz.
Never vote for such a coward so lacking in integrity.
Here’s an excellent article on Trump’s tactics. Anything but debate the issues.

Oh, please, Ted Cruz has the marketplace covered in the lies department.

You are disrespectful to the owner of this site, who has repeatedly asked that we unite behind the Republican front runner, DJT.
You are also aiding and abetting Hillary and the Dems.
opus accepted.

And unfortunately very descriptive of reality.
He's become such a disappoinment (trying to be nice).......
