Colorado delegate: Trump aide said 'We're moving forward' (Manafort)
CNN ^ | Chris Frates

A Republican National Convention delegate from Colorado said Friday that Donald Trump's senior adviser told him the campaign was dropping its challenge to rival Ted Cruz's sweep of the state's delegates -- an account the campaign is disputing.

Guy Short, a national delegate from Colorado and member of the convention's rules committee, said he approached Trump's convention manager, Paul Manafort, after he gave Republican Party insiders a private briefing in Florida earlier this week and asked about Trump's threat to challenge what the billionaire has called a "rigged" system.

"Is the Trump campaign going to challenge the credentials of the Colorado delegation? And he said, 'no,'" Short, a Cruz supporter, said. According to Short, Manafort "said, 'Cooler heads have prevailed. We're moving forward. We're trying to unite the party.'" But Manafort characterized the exchange as a "passing comment," not a change of position, downplaying its significance.

He said he would characterize his conversation with Short as "we are sorting (the) matter out and left it consistent with the Trump position," Manafort said in an email to CNN. "The Trump campaign is investigating if these issues should trigger a credentials challenge. A final decision will be made when our investigation is finished."

Translation: they know they’re already cooked if they can’t win on the first ballot.

But they have at least decent hope of doing that.

>>A personal choice? Particularly when you are targeted with lies?

Yep.

For example, after the cluster frack facilitated by the likes of Roger Stone circa 1974, Nixon didn’t commit suicide, did he.

That’s a personal choice.

Trump needed to hire someone fast. He had a pathetic team.

But he chose to hire another wheeler dealer who had been out of American politics since Dole.

Yes, his latest work had been for a Russian mobster ... just what we need here.

He won’t be able to settle Trump down for long.

>>Suicide is a tragedy for the human being who dies and all who love him or her. It is unbearably sad.

It’s typically the result of catastrophically failed personal world view.

Not the result of Truth, Logic, and Reason.

No personal responsibility for the liar whose attacks caused the suicide?

Got it.

Then why are your panties in a twist about what Manafort supposedly did?

Double standard much?

Trump is a realist and Cruz is (supposedly) an idealist. We need a realist.

Plus, Trump's folks probably have noticed that after NY, support for Trump has increased and support for Cruz is flagging because he has alienated a lot of his supposed base. A ten point change in Trump's favor is indicative of how things are going and Cruz has hurt himself more than he has hurt Trump so far.

I asked Cruz's folks to stop calling me (never got a pleas from Trump after donating to him) because I have changed allegiances in favor of trying for the WH instead of aiding a vendetta . Yet, the calls have increased lately - 2-4 a day and some as late as 9 PM. I expect that a lot of grassroots folks have opted to stop sending Cruz money and it's likely that some of his other donors have slowed down the flow too.

Your process, by your description, resulted in a precinct vote of 22-6 for Cruz, even though a majority of your friends and neighbors were for Trump most likely. There are typically thousands of voters in a precinct. The caucus was designed to be unwieldy, which is why only 28 people showed up. That was only the first step in a 3 step process. There was then a regional meeting where those who were for Trump magically didn't get notice, and then another meeting where those on the ballot had 10 seconds to talk and the ones for Trump didn't even have their numbers (not names!) on the ballot. It is a system very comparable to Iran's method of selecting its Supreme Leader.

Oh but Cruz is so smart, Trump could have done it, too, you will claim. Right. I've got a bridge to sell you if you believe that. Cruz was given smooth sailing to take all the delegates by the party insiders who set up the process in the first place, and they didn't set it up for Cruz. They set it up for Bush or Marco or whoever was the GOPe frontrunner, to protect that person from the rabble who elected Ron Paul last time. Had Jeb been in front, they would have steered the delegates and the process to Jeb. Because they were stuck with Cruz as the only one left who could stop Trump and give the GOPe an open convention, they made sure that only Cruz would get delegates. When there was a meeting, he knew. When ballots were printed, they were printed correctly for Cruz delegates. GOPe insiders, who are the only ones in any state who attend these party events, were told to vote for Cruz. So they did.

It was a GOPe delegate snatch in which Cruz was the willing beneficiary, not an example of the wonderful skills at following rules that Cruz keeps proclaiming. Real voters in Colorado and elsewhere know what the GOPe set up, and they saw through it, and it has ended up helping Trump in other states, but those delegates should be disqualified if it comes down to it.

Not about Cruz? What a quaint notion. To the trumpers, every misstep by Trump is directly blamed on Cruz.

I’m amazed you didn’t know that.

After Trump fails to win or get any delegates, the meme always comes down that he didn’t expect any.

But after Trump’s amazing victory in New York, where he received almost as many votes as Cruz got in Wisconsin, Cruz supporters said truthfully that Cruz did not expect to win New York.

What Trump got out of the Colorado whine was a reputation for whining, crying and being a sore loser.

But call that a PR boost if you want to.

>>No personal responsibility for the liar whose attacks caused the suicide?

If that’s true then family should bring a defamation suit against the alleged liar.

Meanwhile, yes - the responsibility for suicide ultimately rests with the individual whose character renders such an alternative acceptable.

Did Manafort know Yanukovych was a Communist Oligarch Thug when he was trying to prop him up in Ukraine - Yes or No?

What’s the track record of the Russian Communist party for securing the inalienable rights of their governed?

You care about what Manafort allegedly did but you don’t care about what Jeff Roe did?

Does that sum it up?

Critical thinking is your friend, try it.

>> a precinct vote of 22-6 for Cruz, even though a majority of your friends and neighbors were for Trump most likely

Nope.

1. Friends and neighbors bothered to go down the street to a classroom at our local Highschool.

2. Some of those friends and neighbors volunteered to be delegates to the state convention.

3. Everybody there, who bothered to show up, wrote down their delegate choices on a slip of paper.

4. Then every body there, who bothered to show up, had a straw poll - Cruz 22, Trump 6.

Pretty transparent if you bothered to show up (but maybe not so much to the whiners who stayed in their “wherever” instead of participating)

I’m not sure what that reply has to do with anything, but please don’t stop the nonsense.

Cruz won all the CO delegates, and helped cement his nomination loss.

Course Trump was destined to win since last June.

Cruz, Hillary are but temporary obstacles.
