Thursday morning, asked on the Today Show whether he believed in raising taxes on the wealthy, Donald Trump, the frontrunner for the GOP nomination for president, gave a reply that illuminated how much of a Democrat in GOP clothing the Orange-Haired One is, replying, I do, I do.
As time passes, Trump is becoming almost indistinguishable from Bernie Sanders. Daily Wire Editor-in-Chief saw this back in February, in a piece delineating how alike the two men were on numerous policies. For the sake of solely concentrating on their similarities vis-à-vis economic policy, heres Shapiros section on that:
Theyre both anti-establishment candidates who bash Wall Street. Heres Trump from his victory speech last night:
Its special interests money, and this is on both sides. This is on the Republican side, the Democrat side, money just pouring into commercials. These are special interests, folks. These are lobbyists. These are people that dont necessarily love our country. They dont have the best interests of the country at heart.
Heres Sanders from his victory speech last night:
We have sent a message that will echo from Wall Street to Washington, from Maine to California, and that is that the government of our great country belongs to all of the people and not just a handful of wealthy campaign contributors, and their Super PACs.
Of course, when Trump says he believes in raising taxes on the wealthy, he also believes he will cunningly outsmart the system. As he said in January, "I mean, I pay as little as possible. I use every single thing in the book.
Trump has boasted that his tax plan would help working people, but that simply is another Trumpian lie. As Robert Shapiro, chairman of economics and security advisory firm Sonecon, pointed out, "To the extent he says he's fighting for working people, his tax plan refutes that -- it's a complete refutation. He's fighting for himself, and those like him, at the very top of the income distribution. That's what his policies do." Shapiro added, "He's actually going to provide a much larger tax break to hedge funds and private equity fund general partners than what the carried-interest loophole does.
"I mean, I pay as little as possible. I use every single thing in the book. -DONALD TRUMP
As the Tax Policy Center noted of Trumps tax plan, according to Fortune, By 2017, the highest-income 1% of taxpayers would receive a tax cut of 17.5% of after-tax income, and the top 0.1% those with incomes of over $3.7 million in current dollars would experience an average tax cut of more than $1.3 million, nearly 19% of after-tax income.
Trump may say hes for raising taxes on the wealthy just to curry favor with Democrats and establishment Republicans, but it simply isnt true. And by saying he would do so, any credibility of Trump being a conservative is ripped to shreds.
How many Freepers have you counted that claim Trump is a conservative?
Personally, I’m sick to death of the uniparty sh*t sandwich the GOPe has been shoving down my throat since 911.
Additionally, I’m sick to death of the GOPe congress giving owebama free reign.
It’s time for that bullsh*t to stop.
He’s busy pulling Bernie’s kids from Hillary.
How many Cruzlims still think Cruz(PBUH) is actually anything but a GOP tool?
Tagline for you, another arrogant Cruzhole.
They are arrogant and quite nasty ...typical Cruz Cultists ... they once again follow their leader, Mark Levin
There is nothing radical about Trumps plan to tax the rich.
In fact, not only were most of the delegates to the Constitutional Convention wealthy, but they put their money where their mouths were by committing themselves, and all other wealthy Americans, to uniquely pay the taxes needed to run the federal government. This is evidenced by the following excerpt from the writings of Thomas Jefferson.
The rich alone use imported articles, and on these alone the whole taxes of the General Government are levied [emphasis added]. Our revenues liberated by the discharge of the public debt, and its surplus applied to canals, roads, schools, etc., the farmer will see his government supported, his children educated, and the face of his country made a paradise by the contributions of the rich alone, without his being called on to spend a cent from his earnings. Thomas Jefferson to Thaddeus Kosciusko, 1811.
But also consider that in the early days of the nation, state sovereignty-respecting justices had clarified that Congress is prohibited from appropriating taxes in the name of state power issues, essentially any issue that Congress cannot justify under its constitutional Article I, Section 8-limited powers.
Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States. Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.
So I wouldnt be surprised if rich people limited the federal taxes that they paid by policing Congress to tax and spend only for things that it could justify under its Section 8-limited powers.
But since rich people have evidently forgotten about Congresss limited power to appropriate taxes, they are now probably bribing lawmakers to put loopholes into appropriations laws that benefit the rich.
The problem with bribing lawmakers is that lawmakers probably laugh all the way to the bank to deposit bribes for putting loopholes into appropriations bills that Congress cannot justify under Section 8.
Remember in November !
When patriots elect Trump, Cruz, or whatever conservative they elect, they need to also elect a new, state sovereignty-respecting Congress that will not only work within its constitutional Article I, Section 8-limited powers to support the new president, but also protect the states from unconstitutional federal government overreach, putting a stop to unconstitutional federal taxes for example.
Also, consider that such a Congress would probably be willing to fire state sovereignty-ignoring activist justices.
WooHoo go Hillary.
I tell you, if Trump keeps going this way, he isn’t getting my vote.
And before any of the kasick or cruz supporters rejoice, I already wrote them off long ago. They are entrenched establishment and the whole point is to get rid of them.
I’d dump Trump if he keeps this sh1t up because then he’s just going to be establishment too.
I have nobody to vote for then. I will vote then for who I think is the best. Walter Williams. Fuch everyone running if they can’t be balls enough to begin the destruction of the uniparty.
Someone not under their control has to be ballsy enough to begin the hard work.
I’ve got an idea. Read Trump’s actual tax plan in his own words, and then read several critiques of it aside from one hit piece article. Articles “about” what Trump says are generally hit pieces.
See my tagline for more explanation. (And then of course there’s out of context, paraphrasing to mean something else, and so on.)
It isn’t. And rational people need to stop taking these hit pieces as though they were real!
(you and I know it is not a real article.)
Trumps plan limits certain tax preferences and deductions, it does NOT include any reductions in federal spending.
As a result, the Trump plan increases the federal deficit over the next decade by $10 trillion or $12 trillion on top of the $10 trillion increase in the federal deficit already projected under current law.
Trump’s plan should offset its huge tax cuts by similar reductions in federal spending. Yet, Trumps plan contains no such spending reductions.
We cannot afford an additional $10 trillion in national debt from tax cuts without a related proposal to constrain federal spending.
He only one who can win Cruz eliminated lol never Cruz Trump 2016 get on the Trump train to the white house
They don’t care. All they want is to tear down The Establishment and sock it to Karl Rove.
What happens to the country is irrelevant.
Trump will raise taxes on certain Wall Street investors who are paying taxes in the 10% bracket and should be up there in the 20%. He know who they are and they are getting over on the tax system. Why should they pay taxes at the same rate for their multi-million dollar incomes as the tax payer making only $40,000 a year?
Spot on! These Cruzers only see what they want to. This is the same short shortsightedness that leads people off the cliff.
Yours is more Cruz shortsightedness. If Trump causes the economy to take off, there will be $trillions more coming into the treasury. With limits on spending, we should start paying off our debt. Do you see the light now?
Ah, okay. I've heard the term "Hedge Fund" before, but I do not know what it is. Thanks for the info.
This is the same short shortsightedness that leads people off the cliff. The Lemmings are at full gallop.
Trump's plans will decrease spending in other areas. For example, just by deporting illegals and addressing that whole mess, federal expenditures will decrease by billions.
Trump does not need to specify in the tax plan where cuts in spending will be made, when those cuts are implicit in his other plans.
Trump has always said he will go after greedy hedge funders like Clinton’s son-in-law.
