President Obama made his fourth trip to Saudi Arabia Wednesday, ostensibly to “clear the air” in an attempt to repair the damaged relationship with the Kingdom brought about by what many will regard as his administration’s mistakes — cozying up to the Islamic Republic of Iran, for example, and embracing the Arab Spring which toppled the Saudi ally Hosni Mubarak in Egypt.
But perhaps the biggest mistake Obama has made with regard to the Saudis is the one they’ll likely thank him for; namely, opposing — and threatening to veto — a bill authored by Sens. John Cornyn and Chuck Schumer which would declassify 28 pages of a 2002 bicameral congressional report on the 9/11 terrorist attacks and open the door for civil litigation against foreign governments involved in material support for that terrorist conspiracy.

This is so huge. To think that representatives of this country withheld information which undoubtedly implicates the Saudi Government in material support of these plane hijackers is unexplainable . There was no excuse then and certainly not now. But this is far more that the economic loss to the families of the murdered. The losses in the airline industry— the crash of the stock market in the trillions. The cost of TSA and HLS . This was a direct act of war on the Unites States by The saudis aided and abetted by those in our government who OBSTRUCTED JUSTICE.
....And even if they do dump the 800 Billion of their holdings .... Instead of cowering and bowing to those that oppose us .... the right thing would have been done. We can deal with any repercussions and we would regain some standing on the world stage once again.
... Obama is a coward. He always bows to his overlords. The thing is .... His overlords are not the Overlords of America. If you bow to them .... then we have no freedom.
My cousin taught in CA All Arabs children missed school the days before the attack. They KNEW it was eminent. Yes most were Saudi.
Cannot agree more with you on your points. Also add in the Iraq war which sent us on a misdirected campaign against the wrong enemy.
Let this be the hill we die on... I propose, on this the 21st day of Apriil, in the year of our Lord 2016, that we agree as American patriots to meet at the White Hiuse this summer in a date yet to be determined, and DEMAND the immediate release of ALL UNREDACTED PAGES RELATED TO THE SAUDI INVOLVEMENT OF THE MURDER OF THOUSANDS AND COUNTING AMERICAN CITIZENS.

Without reading them...If they are as serious as has been suggested then the proper target would not have been Afghanistan and/or Iraq, but in fact Mecca, Medina, and Riyadh.

Chuck Schumer and John Cornyn authored the bill. I can only surmise from this is the intention to blame the Bush administration and shielding Hillary from the inevitable attack from Trump. “The Clinton foundation gets millions from the Saudis and they were responsible for 9/11.”

Saudi arabia has enjoyed a special place in our government. It has not been held accountable for sponsoring terrorism. I first became aware of this under Bush II. What do they have that we need so much? Is it oil?

De facto, during the Gulf Wars US citizen soldiers were used as mercenaries on behalf of the Saudis.
