Chicago Blackhawks forward Andrew Shaw has been suspended for one game after using a homophobic slur twice during Tuesday nights playoff loss against the St. Louis Blues.
The league announced the suspension Wednesday along with a $5,000 fine for "directing an inappropriate gesture at the on-ice officials" during the game.
Shaw will also be required to undergo sensitivity training, according to the NHL.
The suspension means Shaw will miss Game 5 of the team's series against the Blues, where they are facing elimination.

What did the nasty, old meanie say about children of the rainbow? Did the association get their pink panties in a twist?
Can you still tell a ref to have another donut?
I’m not exactly sure, as I live in Florida, but for the time I was stationed there at the shipyard, I didn’t think my opinion of the Philly fans could get any lower; it did with that display. At least in Boston and Chicago, although just as rabid as fans, their rivalries with other teams are storied and not typically boorish or mean. Philly fans are, though knowledgeable, just simply arseholes.
My husband [and we are Caps fans by the way, with a soninlaw who is a rabid philly fan] was at the Monday game, it was pretty mindbogglingly bad, expecially the F U Caps screamed during the moment of silence.
my soninlaw, a lifelong Flyer fan, was pretty embarrassed and appalled by it, said there was no excuse. though I have read the comments to articles on the behavior, and there are still scumbag philly apologists who are acting like there weren’t THAT many bracelets on the ice, and accusing Caps fans of having thrown them yada yada. so it really depends on the philly fan.
As a linesman in a AAA U 18 tourney Was told by a coach ( who I played against many many moons ago in Mens A league)he could not see the net through my fat ass. I reminded the coach I scored a hat trick on him and stated I could do it again. All he told me he doubted it and I was an SOB while laughing BTW he was winning would never say that in a tied game or if he was losing or his team playing badly
