Sen. Ted Cruz for the first time said he believes the Republican Party is headed to a contested convention.
Cruz had previously called a contested convention likely and that it seemed the party was heading in that direction. But after a disappointing third-place loss in New York Tuesday, the Texas Republican is no longer saying he plans to beat front-runner Donald Trump at the ballot box.
"We are headed to a contested convention, Cruz said in an interview with Philadelphia talk-radio personality Chris Stigall this morning. At this point, nobody is getting 1,237. Donald is going to talk all the time about other folks not getting to 1,237; hes not getting there either. None of us are getting to 1,237.
And hes right about one thing. After the New York primary, it is now mathematically impossible for Cruz to clinch the Republican nomination using bound or pledged delegates before the July convention in Cleveland.

And Trump is a rich guy whose political style is that of a professional wrestler. He doesnt behave like that in private. Of course he is not Jesse Ventura, he knows he is acting.
Go Hillary!
I was just asking the question. When party insiders pick the nominee like in Colorado and Wyoming and only a very small minority have the opportunity to even participate and the bosses just pick whoever they want... that does not feel like an election. That is a rigged system. It is rigged for the insiders, for the lobbyists, for the special interests and I guess you like that. A lot has changed since “Lincoln's time” maybe it is time for the system to be reformed. Maybe it is time for the people to have more input? I am pretty sure that if Cruz was not the recipient you would be singing a different tune. It is time to for reform.
My bet is you were up all night puking in a bucket. It’s no surprise that your posts are incoherent.
That's the problem in a nutshell. These primaries are just window-dressing to fool the masses. The political elites decide who is should be the nominee regardless of what the voters want.
I honestly believe you could not have a conversation or make a point without using labels.
Not all of us are stuck on labels.
Now he’s aggravaTed!
Same here normally I am a "Broken Glass" Republican though the Romney Fiasco started me down the road to a cure for such yet I still voted for him in the general. This year I vote for Trump in the general even if Cruz manages to get the nomination in a contested convention. I will not vote for Cruz, no way no how.
Yeah, I see that is the new talking points to try to justify Cruz staying in but its garbage.
If an establishment guy was leading with second place an almost impossible situation like with Cruz, this race would be over like in the past with McCain and Romney.
Don't try to sell me BS because I'll call you out on it every time!

When Cruz sided with the mobs that night in Chicago alongside BlackLivesMatter & moveon.org I was finished with him.
Bernie is not in the Senatorial class?
Please explain that.
Where are all the people who said Trump only wins because Democrats and Independants cross over and vote for him.
Hmmm, I think, (I know, I live here), New York is a CLOSED primary. Gee, I had to tell the poll workers whether I was a Dem or a Rep. At the Rep table, lo and behold, there I was in the book! (I wouldn’t have been in the Dem book).
Let’s see, Trump 60% in a CLOSED primary. Cruz 14%
BTW, my district voted like the rest of NY. 1.Trump, 2.Kaisick, 3.Cruz, 4.Carson
Next year, I expect to see Ted's tv ads advertising pharma lawsuits
“Whos whining now?”
It’s more of that Cruz hypocrisy. Mock Trump when he criticizes the system but it’s ok when Cruz whines.
Elizabeth Warren called Cruz on his whining last night.
Nice Ted, letting Warren get in her cheap shots with no response. Brilliant.
Therefore, somebody has to drop out. By dropping out, the pledged delegates become unbound and back in play, giving the remaining candidate enough delegates to have a convincing majority.
So, who drops out? Decorum would suggest that the trailing candidate drops out in favor of the leading candidate. If Cruz doesn't make the move to unify behind the popular vote frontrunner, and the split in the party causes Hillary Clinton to win in November, it will be Cruz who will be blamed as the spoiler, not Trump.
Cruz will become the most-hated person in government, displacing John Roberts, and that's a high bar to beat. He could be the overnight hero if he joins with Trump to beat back the McConnell wing of the party.
If Cruz were in the lead it would be different, but staying in the game hoping to recover a fumble will not put Cruz in a strong position against the Democrat the way an outright win would. Cruz must know that it is a hierarchy of needs: nothing else matters if we don't win the White House. If Cruz spoils the overarching goal, he's finished as a force in the party.

“And Trump is a rich guy whose political style is that of a professional wrestler. He doesnt behave like that in private. Of course he is not Jesse Ventura, he knows he is acting.”
Oh. Style.
Yeh, that’s high up on the list of important things our country needs to address.

What you fail to see is that Trump has exposed that the whole system is corrupt.
When the establishment weasels their way to get their candidate, like in the past with McCain and Romney, it is not exposed.
But when you get a candidate they don’t want, the corrupt system is being exposed like we are seeing with Trump. The dem side is being exposed as well.

I was told yesterday that Trump is a liberal Democrat.
My reply:
Build the wall.
Enforce the law.
Deport them all.
End sanctuary cities.
End anchor babies.
Slap a moratorium on muslim immigration.
Cut the taxes.
Cut the spending.
Cut the regulations.
Cut the government.
Cut the debt.
Cut the EPA.
Repeal ObamaCare.
Get the feds out and allow health insurance to be sold over state lines.
Send education back to states.
Get a handle on trade.
Make trade deals in our own best interests.
Bring back capital.
Bring back manufacturing.
Bring back jobs.
Strengthen the economy.
Defend the second amendment.
Defend religious freedom.
Appoint constitutional conservative judges.
Rebuild our military.
Bomb the shit out of ISIS (and take their oil).
End political correctness.
Take the GOP head-on.
Take the media head-on.
Take the liberals head-on.
And win, baby, win.
All of the above on a shoestring budget compared to most of the 16 competitors hes defeated (after they spent 100’s of millions of donor bucks).
No PACs.
No big donors.
No party support.
Whats democrat about any of the above?
Whats not conservative?
Whats not to like?
And Ill add a few more:
Redo the horrid Iran deal.
Take a serious look at NATO.
Require our allies to pay more for their defense.
Rebuild the Reagan Coalition and attract blue collar workers by making America first again on manufacturing, trade, secure borders, economy and jobs, jobs, jobs!
Make America Great Again!
Just the opposite. He’s being perceived as a nitwit with poor judgement and no ethics. He’s destroying his career.
He is quite the faggot.
