We'd been living in our brand new home for 2 weeks when the first of 2 killer quakes hit our city . I'd experienced myriad quakes in various parts of Japan during my 30 years of living here , but nothing like these . I really thought it was the end of the world when that first quake struck : the house rocked and shook that strongly .
I'm still in a bit of a shock so forgive brevity at this time .
My wife and I survived unscathed , but eveything inside the house was destroyed . It'll be a while before we know if there is any structural damage to our house .
We have been staying with a relative in Fukuoka since Saturday evening and feel very fortunate , especially compared to thousands and thousands of others staying in overcrowded school gyms , etc., or living out of their cars .
I plan to write a full report of my experience in the not too distant future .
The resilience and endurance of the Japanese people continues to amaze me .
May GOD bless and keep you and yours.
Only two weeks in the new house! That's not long enough.
Glad to hear you made it through! I hope the house checks out OK.
I’m sorry about the loss of your posessions. Hopefully some can be recovered and the house isn’t too badly damaged. Unfortunately, the ring of fire has been rather active lately.
Keep safe, thanks for the report and we will pray for everyone affected
I look forward to your coming report.
Godspeed.
Geez. Glad you are ok.
Wow, glad you are safe.
Hope the rock and roll is done over yonder.
Kyushu, no kidding.
ZERO looting..!
What a complete non-surprise....
I want to move to Japan, overthrow their government, and grant Second Amendment Rights to all.
God bless ya bro. Hope all goes well for you.
Thank you for checking in and letting us know you and the family are fine. Wishing you a speedy clean up and getting things back to normal.
God bless. Glad you are well.
Glad to hear that you’re safe.
I’ve been watching a lot of video of the quakes and their aftermath on NHK and Solive24, and a lot of the images are truly heartbreaking.
Thanks for taking the time to reach out. Glad you and Mrs. Sushi are OK even if your stuff is not. And that is a major pain I know.
I hope things get back to normal for you and all ASAP.
Prayers up
Thanks for the update!
I’ve been keeping up on events via NHK World. I agree with you on the resilience and endurance of the Japanese people. It’s been awe-inspiring to watch.
I heard that Aso-san is starting to wake up. Hope that doesn’t get to the point where it becomes a problem for you.
