Hundreds of wind turbines in the Netherlands are operating at a loss and could soon be demolished, according to an article published Thursday by the Dutch financial newspaper Financieele Dagblad.
Subsidies for generating wind energy arent cost effective anymore, according to the papers analysis. Most of Europes modern wind turbines are struggling to be profitable due to the inefficient subsidy structure.
Financieele Dagblad is extremely worried about the failure of the Dutch wind industry, because the Netherlands is already behind its green energy targets.
Dutch financial issues with wind power arent unique to the Netherlands. Globally, the wind power industry is slowing down and will continue to slow, according to a 2015 report by the International Energy Agency. The wind industry is growing the slowest rate in years due to changes in the structure of subsidies, issues with reliability, and consistently high prices.

Birds rejoice.
How many are operating exploded or on fire?
That's just more Newspeak Gobbledygook.
They can never be "profitable" if they require a subsidy to do.
Goes without saying. It was a fool's dream from the start.
They have never been able to amortize their cost, anywhere. Spain learned that about ten years ago.
We have yet to learn: Solyndra, Sun Electric, etc.
They’re still trying to sell us “climate change” too.
I see these things out on the plains and farm belt and think what a joke. Hawks, eagles, and batso arent laughing.
inefficient subsidy structure. = NEED MORE TAXES from the surfs
Heck, these could be mounted atop every light pole. Every building could have them mounted all over the roof, and no one would even see them.
Dayem, that is so cool. Those aren’t little blades either.
“Subsidies for generating wind energy arent cost effective anymore”
Paging Mr. Obvious...
“They can never be “profitable” if they require a subsidy to do.”
Actually, green energy can be quite profitable. Some Germans discovered they could install solar panels and sell the excess power back to the utilities. They installed diesel generators and sold the power as coming from their panels. They received enough to pay for the solar panels, the generators, and the diesel fuel plus a tidy profit. The utilities caught on when they were being sold power on days with heavily overcast skies.
Well... heck.... If we can change the climate by throwing tons of money at it, we ought to be able to alter the wind patterns so that wind is always blowing past the windmills.
Actually, if you include the maintenance costs, the gizmos never pay for themselves.
Biggest problem problem for renewable energy is that coal, nat gas and other sources of power, make energy extremely cheap and impossible for renewable energy to compete.
Look at the bright side.. THEY’RE SO BEAUTIFUL TO LOOK AT! /s
Too bad the right Brother-In-Law isn't the distributor or the government would have realized their design advantages.
The same is true for America.
in a trip across the country I carefully observed arrays of the turbines
Generally, between 10% and 15% of a given field was inoperative. I stopped to count
In california it was better and worse. In some fields most were operational and in others 50% were not spinning
If renewable energy contraptions were manufactured and installed using only renewable energy to do so they would be 3 times more expensive. More conventional energy is expended in their acquisition and maintenance than is returned in renewable energy.
