More than six in 10 Republican voters believe that, if no GOP presidential candidate wins a majority of delegates before the convention, the one with the most votes should be the party's nominee, according to a new national NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll.
That's compared with 33 percent of Republicans who say the nominee instead should be the candidate whom convention delegates think would be the party's best standard-bearer.

62% is a big number.
Does the GOP really want to anger 62% of their voters?
If so, the GOP will get slaughtered from top to bottom in the coming election.
Isn’t it amazing how people always want to change the rules while the process is already in play? And usually in a majoritarian way? This reminds me of the people who want to elect POTUS by popular vote.
So two thirds of Republicans want the guy who has more people voting against him than for him. Makes me feel warm inside.

They all have had more people voting against them than for them. But nor for long. Trump is now supported by more than half of Republican voters.
Second, the party ought to charge $100 to vote in the primary. Then use the money to help win the general election :)
Third, since you've limited the primary to repubs only, and charged them $100 to vote..... then count their votes. If you don't want to get invested in the thing... then stay home and let someone who does pick the nominee. :)

What the heck does this mean, exactly? Of course the one with the "most votes" should be the nominee. Within the confines of the majority, in Cleveland, the one with the "most votes". If Trump gets this majority, aka, the most votes, So-be-it... he has my vote, and I hope he has yours. But, Trump may not be the first to get over 1236.

Yet the constitution was approved by delegates and ratified by elected representatives in state legislatures.
Ted isn’t stealing anything. Trumpy is trying to steal the party nomination. He isn’t even a republican. He can’t stand the party. He’s just in this thing to blow up Jebby. Trumpy is doing his best to steal the party and blow it up. That’s who is stealing the thing.... good grief.
Every state is different in how they do this.
In my state (Georgia) we do not register to vote by any party affiliation.
During the primary season, any registered voter can vote however they wish.
Upon arriving at your polling place,
you ask for either a republican or a democrat ballot.
In the event of a run-off election, you cannot switch parties.
(you can’t participate in choosing the quarterback for both teams)
Seems there is likely a transgender joke in that statement..... but we'll let it go.
