The Moon will be full next Friday. That often results in events of geologic intensity. Perhaps these are just a preview of the BIG ONE!

Probably related to the Japanese earthquakes a few days ago. Ring of Fire and all that.
My one close friend from Ecuador is from Cuenca, an Andean city far from the quake center.

...two major quakes in three days, on almost EXACTLY opposite points on the Pacific rim...
“Nasty” indeed. Prayers, indeed, for everybody in that part of the hemisphere.

And there was an outlier, odd Nebraska (3.1) quake.
There was a volcano eruption (Cleaveland) in Alaska this morning. The ring of fire is very active to say the least.
Now the Ecuador quake—a 7.8 is massive; but Friday’s 6.1 in Japan turned out to be a foreshock to yesterday 7.2.

Expect much more damage in Ecuador than Japan due to poorer construction standards. Got lots of family next door in Peru.
