Janna Sundeyeva still remembers life in the Soviet Union, where stores in remote regions would lack meat for months at a time and toilet paper had to be snatched up quickly on the rare occasions it appeared.
But the minor indignities paled in comparison to what happened to her grandfather: He had the chance to come to America in 1929, but he opted to stay, sensing an economic thaw. Seven years later, Sundeyeva says, he was arrested and never heard from again.
Sundeyeva immigrated to San Francisco from Moldova in 1994, and now she and her husband run a Russian-language newspaper here called Kstati. Her Soviet experience colors how she sees U.S. politics to this day.
I dont like big government, Sundeyeva said.

Today, shes not a registered Republican, but like many of the readers of her newspaper, she said shes starting to lean toward supporting Donald Trump for president. The other self-styled outsider in the race, though, holds no appeal for her. The only Bern she and many other Russians here are feeling is the one in the banya.
To Sundeyeva, left-wingers seem to yearn for a workers revolution. I would ask them: Have you ever lived under a revolution? she said. Do you know what its like? When someone comes and takes your family member in the night?
Interviews with more than a dozen immigrants from the former Soviet Union in the Bay Area suggest that some in the community are recoiling from Bernie Sanders and his leftist ideals. One hundred years after the Bolshevik Revolution swept Communists into power, some Russians in America say they cant believe a serious candidate in the United States is calling himself a socialist.

Are they buying Hillary’s?
I think Bernie is being used by people in the power structure like Soros to provide a viewpoint (that they like being popularized) and opposition to Hillary. If it wasn’t for Bernie, Hillary wouldn’t have anyone to run against.
I watched part of the debate last night. One part I found interesting was when Bernie was taking Trump’s views. I don’t remember the exact comment, maybe it was NATO.
Anyway, I feel he is just being used at this point as preparation for Hillary in the next phase where she runs against Trump (or whoever.)
I can't take it too seriously, because I don't expect a smooth transition of power next January.
Just occurred to me: make t-shirts depicting “I’m helping the Obamas move out of the White House 1/21/2017 - a million hands will make it go fast!” or some such.
I actually don’t know any russian immigrants who are democrats...and pondering voting for either HIllary or Bernie. i’m sure they exist, I just don’ know any.
To #2. New Marxist slogan for 2016
“Use Fisting, when you run out of toilet paper”.
Living under socialism is diffrent than being for it
Trump needs to have these people stump for him, to tell the country exactly what socialism is like. The better part is that they know from personal experience.
Recently I came across a guy selling Bernie tshirts and bumper stickers. I demanded one for free as he had dozens Ana I none. He was not amused.
