Is The Colorado GOP Primary Scandal To Blame For Ted Cruz’s Poll #’s Collapse?
DC Whispers ^ | April 15, 2016

Last night Ted Cruz spoke to a largely indifferent New York audience at a state GOP fundraiser that took place in a storied hotel once owned and refurbished by Donald Trump. Likely far worse than speaking to a gathering of people who, according to various reports, merely talked over the Republican Senator, was a brand new Fox News poll that showed Mr. Cruz’s national support dropping by double-digits as GOP rival Donald Trump surged to all time highs in support among Republican voters.

Is the still-ongoing Colorado primary scandal to blame for Mr. Cruz’s sudden collapse? A drop of 11-points in one month for a candidate is significant to say the least.

Add to that the fact Trump then improved his standing by an additional four points month over month, and the Cruz campaign is looking at a net loss to Trump of 15 points over just thirty days. A further heartburn-inducing statistic for Team Cruz is Trump is winning a majority among those Republicans who consider themselves “very conservative” the very group the Cruz campaign needs in order to have any hope of further primary success.

The Fox poll also aligns with the still-festering outrage among GOP voters for what took place in Colorado where state Republican party leaders effectively shout out voters from participating in that state’s Republican primary and then proceeded to award all primary delegates to Ted Cruz, an act which the state party then boasted about shortly thereafter in a since-deleted (but not forgotten) tweet:

ABOVE: As Ted Cruz spoke to and was ignored by a New York Republican audience, more and more Americans appear to be tuning him out as well.

I see the butthurt among the Trumpers is still strong. Scandal?? Sudden Collapse??

They’ve gone from ignoring the fact is was Trump’s fault for ignoring Colorado to whining and crying about it for weeks now to now making **** up.

Their bitter tears amuse me.

I just think he’s not a popular option among voters in general. His people may try to make him look like he’s got hearts and minds, but I think Colorado is more of a symptom than anything else.

It isn’t a victory, it’s more of a pathology.

Pyrrhic Victory?

Every frickng person here on FR knows Obama can't win against ISIS with carpet bombing only, but must put some ground troops in. Trump and his minions don't think that is true in the primaries. They don't think the ground game is important. Both camps are idiots.

Scandal?

http://www.coloradovotesmatter.org/

Friday, April 15 at 3:00PM

The West Steps of the Colorado State Capitol Building
200 E. Colfax Ave. Denver CO, 80203

On April 9th, 3,900 Colorado Republicans voted in a closed convention. We believe that the 34 Colorado national delegates selected that day do not accurately represent us.

We will peacefully assemble outside the Colorado State Capitol Building to make a showing of the vast number of Colorado voters who are not represented by the 34 delegates selected at our recent State Convention.

We will also organize support for future legislative measures to bring the primary election back to Colorado voters.

Only old people will remember this. There used to be a moral question about whether
a candidate for class president in school should vote for themselves. I'm not kidding.

Cruz took the extreme opposite route and was gleeful as he spoke his Trump insults.
It was too personal and too much fun for him - a Christian man.

That was hard to watch and a real turnoff to voters who live somewhere in the middle
of these two extremes. That's what I think.

At least Cruz is not in David Duke polling territory, as "The Donald" is.

That's right, David Duke polled at 69% unfavorable rating in 1984. "The Donald" is polling around 70% unfavorable now. And it's not going to get any better for "The Donald".

Hey, butthurt is underrated as a tool. By not letting bygones be bygones—like the good teacher-pleasing kiss-arses we’ve been trained to be—Trumpian butthurt has exposed Cruzian shenanigans to full sunlight.

It burns.

This is great! Ted Cruz is surging from 38% support in March to 27% support in April! At the same time, Donald Trump is collapsing from 41% in March to 45% in April!

Heidi and Ted’s Excellent Adventure continues!

Interesting comments. I agree. Then Pennsylvania rears it’s ugly head, and it’s more of the same.

Trump may get the majority of votes, but fewer delegates. Say what????

The Republican party has dug in it’s heals, and is self-destructing.

Frankly, I’m glad it is doing this. No more can folks say, “Not it’s not...”, when folks state it’s as corrupted as the Democrat party. Yes it is!

That’s why Obama has been able to do literally anything he wanted with the blessing of “OUR” Congress.

We have a lock on it, and he still gets whatever he wants.

Some will point to the SCOTUS situation and the Republican refusal to review.

First of all, that isn’t done yet, and second of all, they could have defunded anything they wanted to from the House. They didn’t defund one thing.

Too little! Too late! And that’s only if the SCOTUS thing remains blocked.

I think it will wind up an Obama present from the Lame Duck Congress.

Trump wins, and they steal his nomination and gift it to the worst president in our history.

To heck with the nation.

Nothing in this primary time was more disillusioning or short-sighted than the disenfranchisement of Coloradan voters, and then celebrating that it was really smart because it followed rules.

I think we are going to have to set up counseling stations for Cruz enthusiasts at the end of all of this.

Doesn’t take a genius to realize that underhanded shenanigans do NOT play well with VOTERS in Peoria or with VOTERS anywhere and everywhere including COLORADO VOTERS, who were completely shut out.

Oh sure, Cruz played “with the rules,” but those rules were rigged by CO’s insiders Hell bent to shut out Mr. Trump.

Cruz won those delegates but lost much more in “good will.”

Cruz already had a likeability problem. Now, it’s much more inflated. He’s a schemer.

Speaking of old people...

Cruz has always sort of-uncomfotably-reminded me of Snidely Whiplash..

Remember him, and why I say "uncomfortably".

Nope, his collapse started in earnest with WI.

HE got in bed with the party and the GOPe to get that win and any claim to be able to take on the establishment evaporated...

He got the win in WI thanks to the well oiled GOP machine there, but it removed him from any consideration by those who actually thought he would take on the establishment.

In a year where beating the establishment is what most republicans are looking for, getting in bed with them, even if it is to get you a win, is not a wise move.

CO had nothing to do with it, his actions to win WI ensured his national poll numbers would decline.

Get in bed with the Bush brothers in a year where the electorate clearly is sick of the establishment, isn’t going to help your cause.

He’s a fraud. All the focus was on Trump, and now he’s remaining true to his promises, and Ted is turning out to be a real problem.

Conservative? LOL

I don’t know any Conservatives who agree with disenfranchising voters.
