I would like to read the whole article but WSJ is behind a subscription wall. Is there another way to read it?

I held my cursor over the top right corner of the subscription offer and just as I was about to click there, an "X" appeared for me to close the dark screen. The article was there with no problem.

“Disenfranchisement? Aren’t those Dem talking points? Oh wait. Trump is a Democrat. Nevermind.”

If Trump is a Democrat like you say, then it sure is interesting that a Democrat State Attorney declared Michelle Fields had NO CASE AT ALL in her claims against a Trump Campaign Team member. Yes, truth is Michelle Fields disobeyed orders from Secret Service personnel to move to back of the ballroom. She broke through and grabbed Donald Trump's arm, at which time Corey Lewandowski grabbed her upper arm, said “excuse me” and guided her away from Donald Trump. Don't believe me? Then listen at the link below.

I just would ask Cruz and Kasich supporters to question their favorite candidate WHY they called for Corey Lewandowski to be fired BEFORE any investigation was done? Also WHY they blamed the shutdown of the Trump event in Chicago Trump's fault, when EVERYONE knows who the Disruptors were?

The author of this article knows NOTHING about how Colorado selects it delegates. It is the usual claptrap by the ignorant.

You really don’t know what you are talking about. Before you spout off, perhaps you should do a little research and find out how Colorado goes about deciding on delegates.

If you actually do that research, you will NOT FIND IN ANY OTHER STATE, a more grass roots, voter driven system to assign delegates.

Wrong. Just because YOU say so, doesn’t make it so.

Your projection, of hurling names, positively proves your ignorance.

I am in the State of Utah and our system is better I have done my research on Colorado and I serve as Precinct Chair and both a state and county delegate.

Have you participated in a caucus for your state?

The reason that I say CO hurt the “grass roots” participation is because when many voters who arrived at the Colorado caucus, they found out that the GOP had decided not to allow participants to participate in a preference poll. Asking folks that are new, to sit through a 2-2 1/2 hour caucus meeting where there is not possibility to cast a vote for the candidate of their choice had the effect of “running off” many first time caucus goers.

In Colorado, a swing state that has not swung back to the Republicans in years, the GOP has not covered themselves in glory by denying the new potential Republican voters who wanted to vote their candidate preference.

The problem with the caucus system as opposed to the primary system is that such a tiny portion of the voters participate in it compared to the primary system. Colorado has had all sorts of problems due to what a small section of people participate. One only needs to review the past results to see how limited participation has been.

For party that needs more participation, this is not the way to expand participation.

FYI, We did a preference poll plus the delegate selection. If we scrapped our preference poll, I am convinced that we would have lost at least half of the attendees.

We had double the participation in Utah, that you folks in Colorado had and you have more potential participants.

Yes I have participated in the caucuses for several years. I have volunteered for the registration tables and in 2012 was elected precinct captain.

The rules for delegate selection have been in place since 2004. The straw poll was scrapped because the GOP wanted to make the straw poll binding. In Colorado, the straw poll at the caucus has NEVER been binding.

I have very little sympathy for people who do not take time to learn how the system works. Even so, the system is explained at each and every caucus that I have been to. People are told that the purpose of the precinct caucus is to select a delegate and an alternate to go to the state convention and represent the precinct.

Those that leave the caucus because they came with different expectations and get frustrated are only disenfranchising their own vote. I stressed this when I was precinct captain and I hear other precincts do the same.
