Now its just an oligarchy, with unlimited political bribery being the essence of getting the nominations for president or to elect the president. And the same thing applies to governors, and U.S. senators and congress members. Former President Jimmy Carter The 2016 election has been a wild ride, with two insurgent grassroots campaigns literally giving the political establishment a run for its money. But as the events of this presidential primary season play out, its becoming clear the U.S. election and even more so, the presidential race is a big scam being perpetrated on the American people.
Events from the last week have exposed the system as an illusion of choice and a farce. They have reinforced at least one study showing the U.S. is an oligarchy rather than a democratic republic.
The Wyoming democratic caucus took place on Saturday, purportedly to allow voters to have their voices heard in the race between Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton. Sanders lost the Wyoming caucus by winning it with a 12 percent margin.
Wait, what?

I’m still waiting for someone to come up with a viable solution.
You mean besides strict fiscal restrictions on oh, about a thousand pay-to-play PAC laws and regulations?
Yeah, it's almost impossible to find something better than what we're doing now.
We must go by the US Constitution. This has worked. No single person has the right to change our system without guttin part of our Constitution. Have you ever heard of the “tyranny of the majority”? When we became a new country, we were warned against this if we wanted to save our Republic. If we lose the electoral College the conservatives will be severely disadvantaged. No small state wants to give up what power they have. Another reason we have a Senate. Liberals and immigrants will rule the country. This is one of the few powers left to the state.
“Hell the Tesla weighs almost as much as the full sized Chevy Silverado I used to own.”
How about the two political parties being legally required to hold a primary election in all states on the same day something like six months prior to the General Election. No crossover voting, registered party members with ID’s only allowed to vote. No caucuses, no delegates, just a popular vote to nominate their candidates for all offices that will be up in the General. The oligarchs would $hit their pants!
Restore states rights. Repeal the 17th. It fixes everything.
I agree.
see my comment before this one.
It fixes everything.
A solution to betrayal?
The legitimate options seem kinda sparse.
It was so funny last summer. I was at a yard sale looking at some early 70’s stereo gear and was listening to three old codgers argue about the biggest mistake in American history. They all had positions. I walked up to them and told them they were wrong and how much for the big pioneer receiver. Yeah it was the mother of all iron. So the leader says to me what do you know, you are just a kid. I said the 17th was the worst thing in this country’s history. Then explained why. They sat bewildered for a while and after arguing with each other a while realized I was right. They then sold me the big iron for a C note.
DEPOPULATE liars, conmen, criminals, sociopaths, child-molesters, rapists, psychopaths, socialists, totalitarians, scumbags, unaccountable bureaucrats and their family members from the body politic (what’s that leave us with no representation?).
DEFUND all of their collectives, foreign and domestic.
It’s easy to
live - free - republic
C’mon November
I agree with everything you said after the first sentence. However, holding a primary in all states on the same day would favor candidates with the most money and name recognition.
Having caucuses and primaries begin in small states like Iowa and New Hampshire, spread a week apart, allows lesser known candidates to canvas the states, participate in debates and become more familiar to the voter.
Repealing the 17th would fix everything within a decade.
Perhaps, but all the conniving and crookedness has to go! It seems to me that to allow the political parties to use these methods and mechanisms that produce fraudulent and antidemocratic results need to go away. After all, the candidates that are selected do run through a general election that's supposed to be honest. Why then do we allow the parties selection process to be any less honest?
The other way to address the inequality of which you speak is to take much of the money out of the process. The commercial airwaves are government property that is licensed to the networks. They should be legally bound to provide sufficient air time for all for FREE as a condition of their licensure.
We, as a nation have been a bunch of fools for allowing this travesty to go on right under our noses. We've been like a bunch of effing sheep!
Awarding the delegates based on who wins each county makes sense when the votes in the counties are accurately counted, can be audited for accuracy, and each voter gets only one vote after proving they're both a US citizen and a resident of the county in which they vote.
Someone looking for a "viable solution" must be blind to not see that honest voting and "delegates" bound to the candidate the county they're from voted for is not only a viable but an honest alternative.
What needs to be settled at the convention that shouldn't have already been done before the candidates were campaigning ? Nothing but the back room deals to put a price on what the Globalist interests want to buy if the candidate wins. Nothing.
Odds of a tie are slim to none but if there's a tie, fine, have runoff votes. The damn campaigns start over a year before the election anyway so there's no reason on earth that they don't have enough time for a runoff vote in the unlikely event it's needed.
State Legislatures should choose the Senators, but it's really funny how most of the "principled conservatives" can't stand the idea of a Federal Senator being in subject to removal from office by the people who sent them to DC. That makes them liars every time they run their mouths about how the Federal government isn't the answer to our problems because they damn sure love the power to dictate to anyone and everyone just as much as the democrat fascists do.
The huge pus filled boil that the DC bubble spreading into Maryland and Virginia has become needs lanced, drained, and treated with Ointment of Undiluted Constitution.
Repeal the 17th and the States have rights again. Repeal the 16th the whole Globalist sham falls apart leaving the Federal government to live on what gets from tariffs and a few other things just like it did through most of our history and all of our history when we became a great nation rather than a nation of bread and circuses. That means the Federal government shrinks to a size somewhere near what it actually should be.
please do not change what we have for the sake of any one candidate. our states have the right to set the rules for how each state will allot delegates. if a state wants to change the rules that is fine but it would not apply for this presidential election. if delegate slate is contested, I think other states would do the same. neither yrump nor cruz will ever get us involved in a one world. but I think Kasich would he has moved way to the left all dems already are working on it we need a strong conservative congress
The United States Supreme Court redefined marriage. God defined marriage in His opening book of the Bible, Genesis. One man, one woman. America is in the pits of hell. God is going to punish America just as He did ancient Israel, Egypt, Babylon, Assyria, etc. American politics are a complete and utter mess. God is going to help it along to further the mess as He withdraws His hedge of protection, blessings and mercy from this nation. This political cycle may be worse than the Bush-Gore debacle. America is finished as a nation. We are a self-inflicted wound. We have destroyed a Republic and established a dictatorship of two parties who are in it for themselves and screw the citizens. RINOs or Commies, there is no difference. There are few qualified and decent candidates, and they will not win because the cheaters will see too it. We may be voting thinking it counts, but I seriously doubt it. They games and tricks they play in Sodom on the Potomac will ensure that the One Worlder’s get the one in the White House they want. Probably either party will supply them with the one they want. America will go further and further and further into the pits of hell. We all need to be sure that we plan as best we can for the future because it is not going to be pretty. When Hillary gets into the White House and puts Joseph Stalin II in the Supreme Court and then will find a case to change the personal gun clauses and outlaw guns and overthrow the 2d Amendment, then the crap starts and the nation as defined, ends. It is coming. Call it what you want. Deny it all you want. But in my 70 years plus, and many voting booths down the road, I see no one that I TRULY really really want as my leaders. The last one was one Ronald Reagan. There has not been one sense that I want to truly walk in and vote for. Choose whom you might. I see no real difference in any of them. Yell all you want, like you, I have my opinions on these people. You support Trump, Cruz, Hillary, Bernie, whomever, you have your choices. None of them IS the ANSWER to what ails America. The only answer for America is total repentance before a Holy God. But, America is too full of itself and will not do that. It is an individual choice. I made it. I am in good stead with Him. He is the only one I am worried about pleasing. Not anyone in Sodom.
Other than that,
The Party dictating to the little people is a wonderful system, comrade.
In a culture where history is no longer taught or revered every generation has to rediscover this anew.
