GOP Sen. John McCain said Tuesday the situation on the U.S.-Mexico border is so dire the military needs to be deployed to patrol the region as soon as possible.
In a letter sent to Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Jeh Johnson, McCain asked Johnson why he hasnt requested help from the Department of Defense to combat drug traffickers piercing Arizonas border. DHS has been unable to prevent the flow of heroin and other narcotics flooding in from Mexico.

Too late. Also, 0bama is bringing them in from Syria ....
Again?! I was OJS Liaison for 6 months. Our 90 mile sector was completely shut down. We forced them to the Huachuca Mountains and Tucson area.
McCain is feeling the heat from the primary.....
He has always been on the side of illegal aliens and their employers, he’s just saying this to try to fool the rubes in AZ, it has worked before.....
Narcotics takes a back seat for me now in contrast with illegal foreigners and terrorists.
The Barry M Goldwater Bombing range stretches along the border from Yuma to the Organ Pipe National Monument. BMGR West is run by the Marine Corps, and BMGR East is run by the Air Force. Yuma Army Proving ground is 30 miles north of the border. The Chocolate Mountain Gunnery Range in Imperial and Riverside Counties in CA is 35 miles from the border. All of these ranges are live fire and all have issues with illegals and drug runners crossing them. The prospect of being turned into pink mist does not deter these people. The Border Patrol is out in force on all of these ranges also.
Instead of “We have nothing to fear from an Obama presidency”.
McCain is loosing his mind.

McCain has always had screws loose, but he isn’t losing his mind, he’s calculating that AZ voters are just as stupid as last time he ran saying he was for secure borders.
Gee. Is John, perchance, running for something again?
Because nothing says “we need to secure the border” more than “election year” does.
I thought they are just coming to pick lettuce...
Correct, his poll numbers must be bad. I hope that his opponent runs many ads showing his position before to what it is now that he has an opponent.
I hope this POS gets the boot.
Says the guy that was a part of the gang of eight.
We should invade Mexico and set up a soft military occupation as we did in Japan and Germany, until the country can be stabilized, drug lords and corrupt government officials arrested and executed.
There’s no pandering from McCain here. The minute there’s an obstacle to the Wall or border security, he’ll fold like a paper napkin.
Yep. So friggen obvious aren’t they?
With all the Trump/Cruz nastiness on FR these days, it’s great to click on a story here and see so many comments that I consider precisely on target. In a world full of lunatics, FR is a testament that there is still a bit of sanity left in the world.
I've got a better idea. How about we send our military to Washington to arrest our big time criminals and secure our Constitution?
The anti-immigrant rhetoric doesnt appear to be helping the GOP presidential candidates win over Latino voters. A February Washington Post-Univision News poll showed that eight out of 10 Latino voters had an unfavorable opinion of Trump, while 44 percent had an unfavorable view of Cruz (compared to 39 percent who had a favorable view). And a Public Policy Polling survey of Arizona voters earlier this month showed that 70 percent of Latino voters disapproved of McCains job performance, while 26 percent approved of his job performance.
