I share this only for discussion purposes of cuteness. Whether you like Cruz or not, it's a great human interest story.
With Wisconsin’s Republican primary swiftly approaching, GOP candidates are hitting the pavement to seal the deal with voters young and old alike.
Among the teenage supporters of Ted Cruz was a boy by the name of Alex Canney who needed some help asking a girl to prom.
In the video below, (Video at site) he hands Cruz a piece of paper with a message for Sarah Beaver. Cruz smiles, puts his arm around Alex and says:
“Sarah Beaver, would you Cruz to prom with Alex Canney?”
The surrounding crowd erupts in “ohhhhhhhhh” and laughter before Cruz congratulates the lad:
“That’s strong. I’ve gotta say Alex, that’s strong.”
So did Sarah say yes? Of course she did!

Beaver tells Independent Journal Review she and Canney have been friends since freshman year of high school.
The two were attending a Cruz meet and greet in their conservative county of Cedarsburg, Wisconsin since the best pals both enjoy politics.
Beaver is actually the videographer of the surprising promposal and was “completely shocked” at what happened:
“That’s why the filming is so terrible, I had no idea why he wanted me to record him reading a note and didn’t know what was going on.”
While the pair are actually in favor of Bernie, they were still excited to meet the presidential candidate. Canney thought enlisting Cruz’s help might increase his chances at winning free tickets to prom:
“The best promposal wins free prom tickets, so Alex decided he wanted to go all out to win.”

Beaver and Canney entered their political promposal video to the contest and have been told the odds are definitely in their favor.
The duo will attend prom April 22.

Dont take this site to the gutter, or I will have it deleted. And how exactly will you accomplish that?
Do you regularly eliminate things you don't like?
How do you get other people to erase their property to satisfy your rage?

Cute story. That photo with the play house behind them. My brother and his neighbor built a real nice house like that for their girls. Bunk beds, art table, etc.
The neighbor said “You know, in 10 years I’m probably going to have to come over and burn this down.”

I like how they look compared to most. I dropped my son off at some dance.
As we pulled up I quipped “Wow. So did a bunch of guys hire hookers for the night?”
Yes - they really did look like hookers. Lots of them were in skin-tight short dresses, some even with their cheeks hanging out. And the top front was the same way. Although iirc a lot of those gals had about 20 extra pounds on them.

Yea, why is it that young girls who are overweight insist on wearing things that are 3 sizes too small? I see so many of them wearing shorts so tight and small they have that plumber thing going on.
How can a parent allow them out of the house, and why don;t their friends tell them they look stupid,

Well, now I know the beaver reference. So they hijacked the post long before I knew it.
Why?
Why must everything be so divisive that it runs people off?

I'm not sure how to take your question. If you think I'm being divisive, that is not my intent. My reference was to a TV show that was from a time when things seemed more "wholesome"--at least upon looking back at it. Although, I'm sure it wasn't when people were actually going through that period.
However, if you're talking in general terms, allow me to cut and paste something I wrote earlier in another thread:
I would say trolls are among us in this forum who like to instigate a lot of in-fighting. I don't doubt that some go way back when this forum began. It also doesn't help that we are humans with two sides of a brain; so, as conservative as some of us "feel" or "think" we are, we tend become very emotional and passionate, and tend to write some very dumb "liberal" things as a result.
Allow me to add: It doesn't help when we become too sensitive and PC to not recognize some (attempt at) humor, whether we find it funny or not.

It wasn’t a comment so much about what you wrote. Ir was more of a comment towards the fact that a simple article about a kid asking a girl to the prom in an ingenious way ended up having people attack Cruz.
I could care less what one prefers as the nominee, well as far as this article was concerned, but so many of these simple articles that have nothing to do with politics gets turned into a chance to attack a candidate that may, or may not be our standard bearer to take on the left.
This goes for both sides in the debate, because I see those supporting Cruz do the same. I’ve been here since almost the beginning in Feb, 98, and I have seen many in fights, including the night of the longknives, yet as bad as it has been, it was never this bad. I will admit it got bad durig the 2012 primary, but even then it wasn’t near what it has become now.
Now, I understand the human nature of things, and I understand the passion, but when the passion has become hate to the point of attacking someone just because there is a window, regardless of the content of the article. It’s a sad statement upon the direction FR has taken. Or at least Freepers have taken it.
I also admit that many will use humor when an opportunity exists, but as for being too PC or sensitive this is not what I am feeling. What it boils down to is that after awhile accepting it as just humor grows old when you know they are not being humorous, by the direction of comments that feed of each other.

I understand. And thank you for taking the time to explain. I think (and/or hope) we both have an understanding where at least both of us are coming from. :)
