President Barack Obama is guaranteeing that evidence, not politics, will dictate the outcome of the FBIs investigation into Hillary Clintons handling of emails as secretary of state.
Obamas comments came during an appearance on Fox News Sunday, his first as president. Obama said he continues to believe Clinton didnt jeopardize Americas national security with her private email server, but he added that theres a carelessness in terms of managing emails that she has recognized.
What I also know, because I handle a lot of classified information, is that there are theres classified, and then theres classified, Obama told Fox News. Theres stuff that is really top-secret, top-secret, and theres stuff that is being presented to the president or the secretary of state, that you might not want on the transom, or going out over the wire, but is basically stuff that you could get in open-source.
Obama said no one has suggested that Clintons handling of government emails detracted in any way from her excellent ability to carry out her duties. When asked specifically whether he can guarantee that Clinton will not be in any way protected during the course of the investigation, Obama said he maintains a strict line about not talking to FBI directors about pending investigations.
I guarantee that there is no political influence in any investigation conducted by the Justice Department, or the FBI, not just in this case, but in any case, Obama said during an interview that was taped during his visit to the University of Chicago School of Law, where he taught.
The FBI is investigating whether sensitive information that flowed through Clintons email server was mishandled. The inspector generals for the State Department and U.S. intelligence agencies are separately investigating whether rules or laws were broken.
Obama touched on several issues during the interview, including the nomination of Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court and how he deals with the threat of terrorism.
On Garlands nomination, Obama said he will stick with him through the end of his term. What I think we cant have, is a situation in which the Republican Senate simply says, Because its a Democratic president, we are not going to do our job, have hearings, and have a vote, he said.
On terrorism, Obama said he doesnt think Americans have made too much of the threat of terrorist attack. He also said he hasnt let acts of terror disrupt some of his regular activities because its important to communicate a message of resilience and that we dont panic, that we dont fear.
There isnt a president whos taken more terrorists off the field than me, over the last seven-and-a-half years, Obama explained to Fox News. Im the guy who calls the families, or meets with them, or hugs them, or tries to comfort a mom, or a dad, or a husband, or a kid, after a terrorist attack. So lets be very clear about how much I prioritize this: this is my number one job.
On what he most looks forward to when leaving office: Being able to take a walk outside.
On his best and worst day in office. Obama said the best was the day health insurance reform passed and the worst was the day he traveled to Newtown, Connecticut, after the massacre at Sandy Hook.
I seriously doubt that Obama understands what officially “classified” means and why we have classified communications and how important they are for the security of the nation. After all his background is as a community organizer. I understand he was not very good at that. He is a disaster as POTUS.
Apparently there is “the law”, and then there is “the law”.
He should try out for America’s Got Talent as a comedian.. better yet a magician and disappear.
“There’s classified _ and what damned difference does it make anymore, anyway!?”
Depends on what “is” is.
That depends on what the meaning of classified is.
Obama is a lawyer.
Hillary’s devices didn’t compromise national security, Hillary did.
Her messages did.
I think it looks more and more like he’s not going to let her off the hook.
There is also "above the law" and "laws are for little people."
I seriously doubt that Obama could have ever been approved to access any classified communications if he had not been elected President. He could never have passed the basic FBI background investigation.
Of course he’s not worried, he’ll be riding in an armored
limo and surrounded by armed guards the rest of his life.
The rest of us? Meh!
B-HO is such a man-child and hack. I’d like to see what would happen to me if I took on the same cavalier attitude and revealed the low level and supposedly “open source” classified info that I was sworn to protect.
Well I’m glad obama clarified that. There is classified information and then there is classified.
That really explains Hillary’s situation doesn’t it???
If we're not, then we're a nation of men and women.
Then, the King or Queen of the mountain calls the shots.
Then, it's just a matter of time until it's anarchy/revolution.
If she's not indicted, then it's an 'election loser' if Trump and the RNC handle it well with the right ads, comments in the debate, etc. Also, no indictment means Obama's complicit = another reason for the Worst President Ever award.
No you wouldn't.
You or I would be prosecuted to the full extent of the law and would have several years in federal prison to look forward to. Of course, we are just little people and are therefore subject to laws.
we let him / them get away with it
What I also know, because I handle a lot of assified information, is that there are theres assified, and then theres assified,” the Chief Asshat told faux news.
It all depends on what ‘is’ is...
We were, but now we're not.
