To accommodate the perceived wishes of a very small number of people, the federal government and many states are placing women and girls at risk of rape and assault in restrooms.
There are about a mere 700,000 transgender individuals in the U.S., or 0.3% of the adult population. As John Hinderaker correctly notes -- that makes them almost as rare as unicorns.
It doesnt take a genius to realize that allowing men who decide they really want to be women to use womens restrooms is a dangerous idea: not to the wise men of Charlotte, North Carolina who passed an ordinance allowing men to use womens restrooms if they believed they were mistakenly inhabiting mens bodies. Wiser heads in the North Carolina legislature prevailed and passed a law barring cities from adopting anti-discrimination laws that are inconsistent with, or in addition to, the laws in effect at the state level, which already cover race, religion, national origin, color, age, biological sex and handicaps.

To signal their belief that the transgendered have more rights than women and girls who want to be free of assault, rape, and child molestation when at their most vulnerable, the governors of New York and Minnesota, responded by banning nonessential travel state employee travel to that state. (One wonders why they just didnt ban all non-essential out of state travel, but that would be too fiscally responsible, I suppose.) PayPal cancelled a planned center in Charlotte. Apples CEO Tim Cook was one of several high-profile tech CEOs who signed a letter to Republican Gov. Pat McCrory calling on him to repeal the legislation.

Does anyone have the names of the Council members who voted FOR this monstrosity?
This whole public bathroom controversy is a bunch of nonsense. Go in there, do your business, and get out. Is that so difficult? I never understood the need to have separate bathrooms in the first place.
excerpt from below link:
“A year ago, the ordinance failed in a 6-5 vote.
But two new at-large members Julie Eiselt and James Mitchell were elected to the council in November, and both supported the ordinance.
Democrat Al Austin voted for the ordinance.
Are we a city that panders to fear and hate to those who wish to perpetuate fear and injustice? Austin asked. I say to you, Not on my watch.
Democrat Patsy Kinsey, who voted for the ordinance, likened the ordinances passage to her efforts more than a decade ago to bring domestic partner benefits to same-sex city employees.”

What??
What!!
Even 700k is way too many for me.
I’m of the belief that transgenderism is a mental defect and I’m against mentally defective men being able to use womens restrooms.
Maybe he means there should only be single bathrooms so there is no communal aspect to them sort of like on airliners. Not that we want them that small but you get the idea.
Agreed, was surprised to see that number and wonder if it’s true.
I can not understand why all of the fuss.
Each opf us should be free to live as the person we would like to be, no draconian restrictions on our lives.
If I want to be a cop, all I should need to do is buy a proper uniform and badge, keep it clean and neatly pressed so it looks like the real thing and do my thing; whatever any other cop can do.
Or maybe I really want to be a priest. Simply follow the instructions above.
But then maybe I really should be an obstetrician.
Hmmm. That would come with an entirely different set of instructions.
I just saw something that definitely needs further examination.
No, on second thought the priest thing is for me. After all the Pope just announced that sex is a joyous thing and it would be my duty to teach the ladies in the church the “righteous way” to live up to the pope’s expectations.
Yes, we must be allowed to live our life as wee see it.
Based on the number of very tall men with big feet and high heels using the women's rooms I'd say it's not an overestimate.
But it's not the transgendered gals that are the problem. It is the perverts who will use this law to get into the locker rooms, the showers and the ladies rooms.
The mayor of Charlotte, Jennifer Roberts (D) pushed this on the democrat controlled City Council. A community activist was behind it all - and he is a registered sex offender.
I’ll look for the names of the city council.
If that's his explanation.
Trump should start talking about this as well as other candidates. Women, mothers, daughters should do war against women in bathrooms protests.
I read a post the other day here where a Father said he would go into women’s bathrooms with his wife and daughters and if confronted would tell them, it’s my right, I think I am a woman. Love it. Fathers, husbands, should start standing guard at the bathrooms.
One reason: men are pigs.
I’ve got three bathrooms in my house. Never had the need to make them gender specific. Then again, I don’t have any special snowflakes living with me.
Transgenders are unicorns. We hear about them, but it’s pure fantasy. Nobody is born in the “wrong” body. How this notion ever came to be accepted is beyond me.
