I'd rather have nothing than what they're building, Chris. It's a terrible design. It was designed by an egghead architect who really doesn't have a lot of experience of designing something like this. And it's just a terrible design.
It's wrong angles. I mean, the worst of all, it's a skeletal building. And you know, if you look at it, what is it really? It's a 60-story building with a skeleton on top of it because you've got 40 or 50 stories with nothing in between.
And it's a disgusting design that we're going to have to live with for many, many years in New York, and actually in the world, because New York City is so international. And it doesn't represent what we want to have represented.

Trump made local news when he wanted to rebuild the Twin Towers, but taller. I supported his plan, but the people who mattered, didn’t.
I joked with my friends stating we should name one tower “F” and the other tower “U”
I can see it everyday. Symbolism over substance as Rush says.
The entire transportation complex is a waste of money.
But the memorial is perfect.
Concerning other issues, Ted Cruz voted for TPA, the Corker bill, called for a 500% increase in H1-B visas, called for increase in immigration, called for legalization of illegals, rejected Trump’s call for a ban on Muslim (terrorist) immigration, is not a natural born citizen, refuses to release any U.S. citizenship verification documents, busily trying to steal Trump’s delegates while holding the Bible high.
I personally don’t care for the building’s design, either.

This was a pretty mainstream position back in 2005. I remember reading articles and seeing lots of commentary criticizing the design back then. I am not sure how this can be used as an attack, unless Political Correctness has suddenly extended to cover sacred architecture.
These ads already came out in a bunch of states Trump apparently won by large margins. Scott Adams made fun of the commercials, saying the angry, harpy looking women reading Trump quotes probably helped Trump.
That was my opinion, too, at the time.
And the beauty of the reconstruction was that with the benefit of the experience and hindsight, all the weaknesses of the original design, primarily evacuation from tall complex buildings could have been addressed.
I really liked the original design. Elegant simplicity.

I agreed with Trump as well, the pictures I saw of the plans were ugly.
I’m sure there are many who agree.
But it’s built so it’s water under the bridge.
Thank goodness nobody is poring over all the things I’ve said in the last 50 years that are no longer relevant or my current opinions.
