With the “outrageous lawbreaker” Cliven Bundy and four of his sons in custody, U.S. Sen. Harry Reid of Nevada took to the Senate floor Thursday to renew his push to preserve the scenic Gold Butte area northeast of Las Vegas.
“Because of trouble caused by the Bundys and their pals, the federal employees tasked with safely guarding these antiquities, were prevented from doing their jobs,” he said.
Reid also called attention in his speech to the armed takeover of a government wildlife refuge in Oregon earlier this year “by a dangerous group of militants” that included Bundy family members.
Reid said the Bundy patriarch has been “breaking federal laws for decades,” adding, “I’m disappointed that some of my colleagues supported this outrageous lawbreaker.”
Bundy is in federal custody facing 16 felony charges stemming from the April 12, 2014, armed standoff with law enforcement near his Bunkerville ranch, which is part of the Gold Butte area.
In court papers earlier this week, his defense lawyer, Joel Hansen, called Bundy a political prisoner — like the late South African president and civil rights activist Nelson Mandela — who is being punished for exercising his First Amendment rights.
“Harry Reid’s comments just serve to prove that Cliven and his sons and the rest of the cowboys who came there (Bunkerville) to help are political prisoners,” Hansen said Thursday. “Now we have one of the most powerful men in America, Harry Reid, saying that they ought to be in prison.
“Is Harry Reid the judge in this case or is he trying to improperly influence and poison the jury pool so that they will follow his opinion when they get to the jury box?”

2. When Mel Bundy was arrested, he was treated horribly-he was beaten, left with vomit covering him, chained to a wall for over 40 hours and wouldn't allow him a bathroom break. They wouldn't allow him to call home, the Bundy's thought he was dead after an FBI agent called his wife to come get his belongings. They had no idea where he was for 3 days. The authorities didn't give him any food-besides a stale piece of bread for 4 days.
Lisa Bundy says if Americans don't wake up this will happen to you next. If you don't fight now this will be your family."
I have confirmation from a source with connections in the prison where Mel was being held of the condition he was in. HE WAS BADLY BEATEN, SHACKLED TO THE WALL & STARVED FOR DAYS! THEY DIDN'T ALLOW HIM TO GO TO THE BATHROOM FOR 40 HOURS, HE WAS COVERED IN HIS OWN VOMIT, FECES, ETC.

I have had about all of Harry Reid I can take.
Harry Reid has had a personal vendetta and animus for Cliven Bundy and his family for a long time...preceding the events in Nevada last year by many many years.
The two have known each other for a long time, and you can see how Cliven Bundy, a hard working rancher, who believes in the US Constitution and understands his rights under that document would butt heads with and be the polar opposite of someone like Reed.
