The Army Chief of Staff General Mark Milley must be elated. He’s happy with the current setup as far as security goes:

Mark Milley is a political assclown willing to walk on the bodies of dead servicemen in order to advance his career.
Because our military soldiers on base are not allowed to carry loaded side arms. Our military has been de-fanged and pu$$ified by this dog eating muzzie of a president.
No Air Force members carry on base, with the exception of the SPs (security police) at the main gate or other areas that require it. Two examples would be guarding a weapons storage facility or transporting classified documents.
I was enlisted, and had to qualify on the .38 (in 1986) for an assignment to the 5th Combat Communications Group (5th Mob) in Georgia. However, a pistol was almost never assigned, even in combat training exercises, and I was told that they were more or less to be issued to officers if they were issued at all.
Of course, a lot of time has passed since I got out of the Air Force. Just know that it has really never been an Air Force practice at all for people other than the security police members to carry on base.
I sent you some more stuff via email.
The security within my area of the AFB was not by air force... it was by the marine corps. and my marine escort, he was definitely carrying hot.
the armed security was for very specific types of nuclear materials.
It was also decades ago.
Shooter IDed as Tech. Sgt. Steven D. Bellino, 41. Victim is Lt. Col. William A. Schroeder, 39.
What’s weird is the background of Bellino. He had been in the Air Force less than a year, but was already an E-7. And before that he was a Special Agent in the FBI for about two years.
Was Bellino booted from the FBI for some reason? Being a Special Agent is a respected and sought-after position, and usually applicants are college grads with degrees in accounting or law. And these federal agencies are loath to lose people so early after having spent all that money training them.
Would a man with such a background then enlist in the services? Why would the Air Force accept a 40-year old enlistee?
Was Bellino in fact an undercover agent doing an investigation at the time? I suspect there is more to this story.
Might make sense if he was an experienced dog trainer for the FBI and they wanted him on regular duty, and the AF offered him a dog training job. Then decided he was more suited to counting paperclips in Fairbanks.
But that is all rank speculation. And it doesn’t really match the WAPO narrative.
By the way - isn’t Tech Sgt E-6, with Master Sgt E-7?
