After Obama CANCELLED the first 3 attempts, Panetta asked under what conditions the go-ahead would be given. Then he set out to make those conditions happen and then proceeded as if he had the go-ahead, without asking or waiting for ANOTHER approval.
Obama was called-in off the golf course to tell him only that it was underway and only after it was too late to stop it.
This was just fine with Obama, because if it works he takes credit, if it fails he can shift blame. The typical coward-in-chief position.
And to think that this statement is uttered by a buffoonish weakling like Panetta.
