Dennis Hastert accused of sexual abuse by at least 4, sources say
Chicago Tribune ^ | 04/07/2016 | Christy Gutowski and Jeff Coen

For months, federal authorities have hinted at the motive behind the hush-money payments former U.S. House Speaker Dennis Hastert has admitted to making: the sexual abuse of a teenage boy when Hastert was still a suburban high school teacher and wrestling coach.

But now, a Tribune investigation has uncovered new details of the case — at least four people have made what law enforcement sources say are credible allegations of sexual abuse against Hastert.

The Tribune has determined the identities of three of them, all men, whose allegations stretch over a decade when they were teenagers and Hastert was their coach. One is dead. The Tribune has approached the other two — described in federal court records as Individuals A and D — and confirmed their roles in the case

I was onto Hastert as soon as he defended William Jefferson D-LA. Hastert knew eventually they would come for him.

I had no clue that defense was about Hastert's perversion... The names of duplicitous fake conservatives grows by leaps and bounds daily.

I know someone very close to me that was abused as a child by a school coach.

My scoutmaster was a pedo. I had just joined the troop when the scandal broke so I was not directly affected. But I saw the aftermath. One kid showed up to school one day with a black eye. One of the older kids had beat him up to keep him quiet. Nasty, nasty stuff. These pedos destroy a lot of lives. Then can all die in a fire.

Agreed. Stealing the innocence of the young, or otherwise debauching their sense of self is a terrible crime. This sort of injury to the soul is often passed on to another child, once that victim has matured. In that way, the cycle of abuse is continued. The children can never get that time back.

“Get a rope!”

If you believe in freedom, limited government, and rule of law this case is wrong on many levels.

Consider Hastert is not being charged by the Obama Department of Justice with molesting young boys. Instead he is being charged with structuring withdrawals from his own bank accounts in a way to avoid the withdrawals being reported by the bank to the US government. The crime he is being charged with (withdrawing his own money from his own bank accounts) should not be a crime at all in a free country.

Hastert withdrew the money to pay an extortionist. Extortion is a crime. Yet the DOJ is not bringing charges against the extortionist.

In addition the allegations of sexual misconduct by Hastert are not being made in court. Instead they are being leaked to the press by federal prosecutors (officers of the court). Those who fear the power of an overly zealous government should condemn these leaks and demand the government investigators be disciplined for violating the rights of Hastert, as well as potentially Hastert’s victims, by leaking such information. The place for criminal charges to be heard is not in press, it is in the courtroom. If the attorneys for the government cannot assemble enough evidence about criminal conduct to bring charges they should not be leaking information to the press.

Finally, if the charges that Hastert committed sexual crimes are true, why isn’t the Obama DOJ bringing formal charges? Could it be the sexual conduct involves both pedopehlia and homosexuality? Does the evidence of sexual misconduct show Hastert was a predatory homosexual? That story line doesn’t support the politically correct view of homosexuality.

In no way do I excuse Hastert. If he is, or was, a child molester bring him up on charges for the crime. A government that will spy on its citizens, and secretively leak destructive information about them , without using the due process of law, and with the intent to defame the individual is a government to be feared.

After he retired, they had no more use for him. It’s funny how his payments were discovered.

...

The bank ratted on him.

Yes, of course. Hastert is a dirtbag and should pay for his crime. I'm just pointing out that moral turpitude is an occasion for promotion among Democrats.
