Bernie Sanders committed tonight to formally apologizing for slavery on behalf of the United States if he becomes president.
Sanders told heavily black audience that Tindley Temple United Methodist Church, 'There's nothing that anybody can do to undo the deaths and misery, how many people we don't even know who died on the way over here in the ships.'
But the United States has to make an attempt to 'wipe the slate clean' by acknowledging the truth, he said after an audience member asked him point blank if he'd offer a presidential-level apology and he said, 'Yes.'
And while the U.S. Senator does not support reparations in the form of a check for the inhumane treatment of Africans before the end of the Civil War, he does believe the government should invest in low-income communities, many of which are black, and he reiterated that point tonight....

If Sanders wants to take the guilt of slavery upon himself we should put him in prison.

We have already tried investing in low income communities. Well sort of.......the inner cities become uninhabitable, so the gubmint builds and surrounds the city with Section Eight housing.......then when those areas become uninhabitable they build in the suburbs. Like in my area of Ohio, once a beautiful little farming community close to Columbus, that was really thriving.....suddenly after being a part of the SHARING-OF-THE-THUGGERY program, the great little suburb receives STARDOM and becomes the featured community of SIXTY MINUTES......”HEROIN IN THE HEARTLAND.”

No descendant of slaves would even be alive today if it were not for slavery. The genealogical chain would have never ever come together and produced him. If black Americans value their lives they would find descendants of slave owners and thank them.
I had a GG Grandfather and one cousin that I know of, die for them on the Northern side in the Civil War....while many GG Granduncles serve on the Northern side....they want more?....they need to come and try and take it

When they arrived in the USA they were conscripted and Died either for the North or the South. The Irish at that time were abused by all.
I despise the reporters and activists who keep bringing this subject up over and over and over. What does slavery have to do with the current black situation?
Went to a work happy hour once where one of the young, single guys “bought” all the girls drinks. He then skipped out before the check came.
This is exactly who Bernie Sanders is.
The following day we did make him pay his fair share of the check. However, it took a lot of shaming and ridicule to get him to do it.
We have been paying reparations for years now. Its called Affirmative action, welfare, food stamps, etc

There is slavery now. It is not ok the way illegals are treated, far worse than black slaves at the time, who are trapped without benefit of laws, in living conditions and working conditions far inferior to most black slaves in the 1700s. They owe everything to their coyotes and their employers can also dock pay for housing, etc, making them virtual slaves. They have as much recourse for help as the slaves from Africa.
There are illegals, some underaged, stolen from their families in Central America and used as prostitutes here, literally kept under lock and key and brought around to the fields for the men to use.

It wasn’t much $ but my relatives including my dad accepted it. They lost many lives and millions of $ by today’s $. But none of us wanted citizenship.
Seems I read 388,000 slaves were recorded as being sold to the US. I am wondering how many AAs have actually researched to see if they are directly related to one of them.
Honestly, I bet most are. Who knows how many people think they are “white” and they also have direct genetic ties to American slaves?
