A mysterious planet that wiped out life on Earth millions of years ago could do it again, according to a top space scientist.
And some believe the apocalyptic event could happen as early as this month.
Planet Nine a new planet discovered at the edge of the solar system in January has triggered comet showers that bomb the Earths surface, killing all life, says Daniel Whitmire, of the University of Louisiana.
The astrophysicist says the planet has a 20,000-year orbit around the sun and, at its closest to us, it knocks asteroids and comets toward Earth.
Fossil evidence has suggested most life on Earth is mysteriously wiped out every 26 million to 27 million years.

All of my handguns are named after Wagner’s “Ring Cycle”. Wotan, (S&W 500 Mag) is the ruler in Valhalla (my gun safe). Siegfried, (Colt 1911) is my daily carry piece.
I never realized till just now how much of a ferret face he is.
Was a motorhead that preferred Jeff Beck and Rachmaninoff. At the time the wailing, operatic female voice wasn’t an attraction.
There is a great series that runs on VH1 Classic that details the history of heavy metal, starting with its roots in classical music.
James Dewar had such an awesome voice. After the botched surgery and subsequent death, Trower didn’t do much without Dewar. But I still see him @ BB Kings NYC from time to time.
If you’re not familiar with the Chrysalis Years (73-76), definitely check it out. A couple of hours of excellent material — of course with Dewar.
Checking out your link now...
Thank God we did not have to argue that point.
Post-Dewar, it was not the same.
Not bad, but not the same.
Kinda like VanHagar and Bon-less AC/DC.
Never got into them.
Don’t even get me started on Stone Temple Pilots or Alice In Chains.
[or “Doors Of The 21st Century”....*cringe*]
Type O Negative had the common decency and good sense to just stop, after Pete died.
There’s a lesson, there.
It’s much worse than the National Enquirer. At least there is a hint of a rumor at the National Enquirer.
Sweet. Good to have alternative terms. Same goes for the canine commands.
Lol! (Post #80)
Dirt is timeless.
You got me thinking about rock compared to classical. Classical is reproducible, but rock isn’t the same without its creators.
Well, since Y2K and the Mayan calendar didn’t get us... May as well start up a new one.
Source for the Yellowstone caldera story you linked is this:
Whew, I’m about 200 miles outside the outer edge of the secondary ash zone.
Truer words never spoken.
I listen to all this stuff on my bike stereo [3000W/Quad speakers/sub and EQ-preamp]
I have my playlists sorted so that when I leave the house, it’s all “head out to the highway” stuff like White Zombie, Meatloaf, Golden Earring, Motohead, etc but when I come home in the dark, it’s AIC [Rooster], Stone Temple Pilots, Trower and the like.
All my rides have a soundtrack.
You have not lived in until you’ve experienced Trower or Travers out of a sub underneath and slightly behind you.
:)
East or west?
If you’re east, come on over.
We’ll have a cookout.
