ANALYSIS: Donald Trump Grows Weaker, Setting Up Further Republican Chaos
By Rick Klein Apr 5, 2016
Wisconsin will go down as the state that turned the tide - or that turns the minds of anxious Republicans to what might have been.
Donald Trumps loss proves a point the anti-Trump forces have been making with varying intensity for months. He was blown out, losing broadly and decisively in a big battleground state, in a winnowed field and in a primary that was open to independents as well as GOP regulars.
Tonight is a turning point. It is a rallying cry, Ted Cruz said in declaring victory, in words that his erstwhile enemies in the Republican establishment would gladly endorse at this point in the race.
Trumps support is stalling among Republican voters, and his failure to close out his rivals speaks to his potential weakness in a general election. Tuesdays results show the GOP frontrunner can be beaten soundly in places where the case against Trump is prosecuted in a sustained way - and perhaps helped along when Trump himself plays into those arguments with his own behavior.
With a Trump ceiling coming in to focus, his path to a majority of convention delegates has never been narrower. Strikingly, more than a third of Republicans in Wisconsin exit polls say theyd be scared under a Trump presidency, with another two in 10 saying theyd be concerned. Trump was uncharacteristically silent Tuesday night, as if he had nothing good to say. Cruz is by far the biggest beneficiary of the anti-Trump sentiments. Wisconsin delivered the kind of cross-demographic victory that, to date, only Trump has managed in an electorally significant state.

Funny the way the MSM and GOP (they’re on the same side now) choose to portray things. Cruz wins one primary, picks up a net of 30 delegates or so, and its “WATERLOO!!” “MOMENTUM SHIFTS!”
Now, on the dem side, Bernie the Red has won something like 7 out of 8 of the latest primaries. But, since Hillary’s their BFF, you will see no “Waterloo” stories on that side. Haven’t seen a propaganda campaign like this one in quite some time.
Exactly!
Trump will ask the questions of Hillary that the moderators will not ask.
Keep that in mind ...
It’s too bad.
I really wanted to support Trump but he turned out to be a colossal jackass with the emotional maturity of a 12 year old.
WI had nothing to do with Cruz but for the gift given him by way of the allegiance there to the GOPE.
WI polls show that only 32% of Republicans there are even dissatisfied with Washington, DC.
How’s that for a reality check? These people are Establishment all the way and the rest are progressives for Sanders.
No, Cruz won nothing, but for 30 or so delegates who will vote for Paul Ryan on that Third Ballot.
Cruz is being drugged into thinking he is the nominee when he is the mule for Ryan. If it weren’t all such a laugh, it would be tragic.
Trump gets weaker heading into the states where he will do best, or something
A Monmouth University survey released Wednesday shows Trump taking 52 percent support, followed by Kasich at 25 percent. Ted Cruz has 17 percent.
Trump has no ground-game, laying off people.
Going to post this, make the FRumpsters hold their breath and stomp their feet.
Wake up. Cruz will not be in the general unless it’s for the expressed purpose of losing.
The guy is a gift to the DNC. The percent ready made Humpty Dumpty.
Ah! Stuck in the mid thirties! Really? Ny Trump 55%!
I dunno. He will likely hit her with something like, “do Americans really want to have to listen to that bitchy Cackling harranging them for the next FOUR YEARS?”
Stunned silence by Hill and mods. Loses debate and wins the election - that night.
Cruz is now a GOPe tool, and any thinking person knows it.
I know, it’s pathetic, but hopefully some people are seeing though it.
“Trumps bad temperament and lack of preparation are becoming more apparent by the day. Sore loser last night”.
As opposed to CRUZ being a Sore Loser every time he lost?
Sounds like our current jackass. Might win.
Trump could win every debate without saying a single word. He could insist he only debates standing up. Hillary isn’t physically able to go many more debates especially standing. Seriously, I’ll be surprised if she stays able to stay in the ran. Her husband is in even worse shape. Just my opinion.
Did you read the latest poll on Hillary?
She has the highest negatives among women
Women favor Trump 39 to Hillary 33
Interesting
Hey... Who got his ass kicked last night?
Trump got his ass kicked last night
Five minutes later... Hey... Who got his ass kicked last night?
Trump got his ass kicked last night
Five minutes later... Hey,... Who got his ass kicked last night?
I keep telling you, Trump got his ass kicked last night. Dont you remember?
Yeah... But I just like hearing you say it!
If Cruz has 11 more Wisconsins, Donald Trump would also be "eliminated", because he could not get to 1237 either.
In fact, Donald Trump would be behind, at that point.
If Trump runs third party he will lose and will also destroy the future of the Republic.
