LeVar Burton was initially skeptical of remaking "Roots," the groundbreaking miniseries that launched his career in 1977.
But Burton, who played a young Kunta Kinte, overcame those concerns after seeing the educational value in helping the new generation of Americans better relate to the plight of slaves and African-American history, particularly after the election of Barack Obama, the United States' first black president.

The descendants of the U.S,slaves are too busy looking for “safe spaces” and demonizing white people.
They don’t really care who’s enslaved——as long as it isn’t them...
.
[ Agreed. And, also tell the story of how many were sold into slavery in the Arab/Islamic countries. Which, by most estimates, is conservatively 10 times the number that were set to the West, of which, most went into the West Indies. ]
They need a alternate version: ROOTS: Kunta Kinte of Arabia
Tagline: He though his circumcision in his village hurt like hell, well, he is in for a BIGGER surprise as he instead gets sent to Arabia.... Watch it, chop chop....
How about the remake have something in it regarding the USS Constellation and how she partnered with the Royal Navy to interdict the slavers as they departed the west coast of Africa. I’ll bet eight paychecks that story is not told.
“....failed to sway opinion in the way the producers had hoped”. WHAT? You mean there’s an “agenda” out there? LOL! White guilt must really suck.
Will they have a scene where a slave is runnin from the massuh who raises a gun and he takes aim, the slave drops to his knees and yells “hands up, don’t shoot”?
Yeah, but between all the he got raped in prison (Dummy, 1979).

Why TELL THE TRUTH, when the AGENDA will do?
[ Most people forget that Slavery was in fact going on in the Caribbean for almost 200 years for before it came to the U.S.. ]
A lot of people either forget or were never taught the truth about slavery in the new world and the old world and it’s contrasts and what actually led to it’s eradication in the west, (sorry PC people it still lives on in the “Culturally diverse” east).
Too many damned morons also don’t get the whole meaning behind the “3/5 clause” in the constitution and HOW it was one of the things that led to slavery’s destruction in the US.
Best way to get a liberal to get whiplash is to mention after they whine about 3/5 that the Northern ABOLITIONISTS wanted slaves to count as ZERO PEOPLE in the constitution.
They sputter and say that can’t be true then wen you point out how and why counting them as FULL people would have led to the south steam rolling the north in the house of reps and CODIFYING SLAVERY they kinda look stunned....
it was boring way back then and will 100 times worst now
Smells like LaVar is in need of a job.
This time, let’s be honest and not claim it’s a true story.
RAGNAAAAAAR!
I saw quite a bit of the series. I can't recall seeing any episodes showing the black African chieftains selling slaves or the black and Indian American slave owners.
Slavery was awful, but twisting the truth is never good.
FYI, The Gambia, where allegedly Kunta Kinte was before being captured, just announced a few months ago that they are now officially an “Islamic Republic.”
Amazing the great strides blacks have made in the last 150+ years.
Yep...they never left the plantation.
Put the visor back on, Geordie.
