Winston Moseley, who stalked, raped and killed Kitty Genovese in a prolonged knife attack in New York in 1964 while neighbors failed to act on her desperate cries for help a nightmarish tableau that came to symbolize urban apathy in America died on March 28, in prison. He was 81.
Patrick J. Bailey, a spokesman for the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision, confirmed the death on Monday. A medical examiner would determine the cause of death, Mr. Bailey said.
Mr. Moseley, a psychopathic serial killer and necrophiliac, died at the maximum security Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora, N.Y., near the Canadian border. He had been imprisoned for almost 52 years, since July 7, 1964, and was one of the states longest-serving inmates.
His life behind bars had been relatively eventful. Mr. Moseley was condemned to die in the electric chair, but in 1967, two years after New York State abolished most capital punishments, he won an appeal that reduced his sentence to an indeterminate life term. While at Attica Correctional Facility, in 1968, he escaped while on a hospital visit to Buffalo, raped a woman and held hostages at gunpoint before being recaptured. He joined in the 1971 Attica uprising; earned a college degree in 1977; and was rejected 18 times at parole hearings, the last time in 2015.

So thanks to Rocky, this guy lived to be old age at the taxpayer expense? The only expense the taxpayers should have had to pay was the prisons electric bill for 10 minutes usage of 500,000 volts and high amperage.
Thank you for your service, ma’am.
Thanks for posting your first-hand observations.
Yup. He was my wonderful Republican Governor when I turned 21. My Republican Mayor was John V. Lindsay and my Republican Senator was Jakob K. Javits. No wonder I registered as an independent.
The irony, a rapist dies at the Clinton Correctional Facility.
That's what we all said.
Appreciate your kind words. Thank you.
You’re very welcome. I’ve shared it on other threads over the years, and thought it was very appropriate now that the POS has gone to Hell.
Excellent post.
“Afterwards, many in the class complained that the film presented Communist propaganda.”
Where I was few enough of us were aware it was communist propaganda.
They did this stuff to us in high school also, in the 70’s. I didn’t know how leftist it was.
Oh yeah. And that Malvina Reynolds was a pice of work. Her and Country Joe.
It wasn’t “as bad” as it was portrayed, but it was very bad. IIRC, Ross (mentioned in the full NY Post story) was the one who opened the door, looked down the stairs as Moseley raped Genovese, and closed the door. One of the people that he called told the cops about. He denied it. Moseley confirmed it.
The neighborhood’s later complaint that thirty eighty people did not witness the crime and fail to report falls flat. At least a dozen people saw it and did nothing. The neighborhood looked like scum after that because it was scum.
In my case I recall a teacher describing to us in a graph how a capitalist economy was a wave pattern of ups and downs but essentially flat across the graph. Then he overlaid on the same graph how a communist economy while starting out below the capitalist economy steadily rises in a straight line and eventually is above that of the capitalist one. I have forgotten everything else
about this teacher and the class he taught but I recall
that graph of his.
Other than two people calling the police, and the one grandmother holding her while she dies, what sort of help was provided?
Did anyone actually do something to help her?
The sonofabitch should have been dead by 1965.
