We're baaaaack!!

Posted on 04/05/2016 5:23:32 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

The DNS server should be working now. Woo hoo!

Dumb-dumb out of date records error led to administrative hold. John finally got them to update and release the hold. Long convoluted story, but that's not important. What's important now is that we're up and running just in the nick of time for Wisconsin.

Only being basically literate with computer issues, I went and changed DNS server yesterday and was able to read FR but not log on. Everything else worked. Now with the new DNS numbers, I can log on and all else still works. Should I leave things as is or try to backtrack. Would rather leave alone if you recommend.

I just have to change my default search engine. I do that from time to time, but my carrier is Verizon and I think they periodically take it upon themselves to set their own ‘search engine’ up as the default. Everyone here despises google, but at least it works for me!

I agree. Google does work and the only time I see that Cent Link page - full of ads etc. is when something goes wrong with a site I’m trying to reach (like FR) and CL(my internet carrier) so helpfully substitutes their page for google which IS my default.

Put it back the way it was if you saved the info.
Your browser may search your IP for the default once you remove the manual inputs.

This was the workaround that was successful.

YMMV
