Again, the Rats that RULE California, have done another anti-capitalism blow to the state. Businesses will leave, jobs will disappear, and the Rats are happy because their union voter army (SEIU, etc) are happy. Consequences do not matter.

I wonder how many legal people actually only earn minimum wage in California. Outside of fast food and hospitality, it can’t be much.

Maybe it’s not too late to invest in automated (customer self-serve) kiosks for quick-serve restaurants. Such devices cost less than $15 an hour (over time) and are never late.

Perhaps a bit off-topic: I was considering the oft cited Laffer curve e.g. optimal tax rate that maximizes govt ‘income’, and concluded that it doesn't work within the liberal mindset. In the conventional view, the left end is zero taxation, so the government collects no money. At the right end is 100% taxation, and since there is no incentive to collect a paycheck, no one participates and tax receipts are again zero. Somewhere in the middle lies an ‘optimal’ tax rate people are willing to pay that maximizes government tax receipts. But in the liberal mind, forced slave labor is entirely acceptable, so the right end of the curve (100% tax rate) actually is the ideal maximum tax rate.

Liberals are stuck up pigs. No jobs not worth $15/hr is allowed to be performed in Kali. So, an $8/hr job or a $5/hr job is forbidden in Kali by the liberals.
Liberals HATE low wage people. They are snooty stuck ups.
Liberals are the most fascist, hate-filled, mean-spirited, envious, resentful, vicious, close-minded, violent, murdering, censoring, horse-punching, book-burning, ignorant, uneducated, unskilled, childish, prejudiced, racist, women-hating, man-hating, perverted, thieving, destructive, American-hating, Christian-hating, muslim-loving, communist, vulgar, dirty, smelly, regressive, restrictive, prohibitive, bed-wetting, cop-killing, and scared little lying thumbsucking idiots God has ever created.

I predict lots of un(?)intended consequences. Right now the Federal poverty level is the same for the lower 48. Kalifornians who still have a job will suddenly find they no longer qualify for benefits once they breach that level, meaning a net LOSS of total income. No more Øbamacare exemption, no more EBT, and no more Medicaid. That is why there is a question mark above. What a nice way for Kalifornia to purge their welfare rolls.
Not to mention the loss of buying power as prices increase across the board. Rising wages will also mean a need to keep the ACA Marketplace updated on estimated MAGI to avoid the PTC clawback come tax time.
Finally, as poverty is defined as a percentage on the curve, poverty as we define it will NEVER end. Only if it is compared to a global average will our "poor" find out they are upper middle class when compared to the rest of the real poor, whose numbers are legion.

Minimum wage is not a living wage.. its a starting wage.
Raising it is the same as eliminating a starting wage for many young, or minority, or poorly educated, or elderly Americans.
Or eliminating a supplemental wage to some one else in the family, in addition to the main wage earner.
It means the loss of jobs for the workers, and a disincentive to give jobs for the companies, and an incentive for companies to look for alternatives, such as automation, or closing low margin stores and opening stores in some other state.
This is truly the War on Blacks.
This is also the War on Youth.
Too bad they cant see they are being used and discarded by the people they are voting for.
