Donald Trump continued his war with party bosses Sunday, once again saying that he wouldnt rule out a third-party run if he failed to secure the GOP nomination and demanding that rival John Kasich drop out of the race.
Were going to have to see how I was treated. Im going to have to see how I was treated. Very simple, Trump said on Fox News Sunday when asked if he would categorically rule out running as a third-party independent candidate if he failed to win his partys nomination. Its not a question of win or lose. Its a question of treatment. I want to be treated fair.
The comments came just days after Trump, Kasich and Ted Cruz backed out of pledges to support the GOPs eventual nominee. Following the walk-backs, Trump met privately with Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus in an apparent effort to smooth things over, but on Sunday, the hot-and-cold relationship appeared on the verge of fracturing once again.
Those kinds of comments, I think, have consequences, Priebus said on ABCs This Week of Trumps latest remarks. When you make those kinds of comments, and you want people to fall in line for you, it makes it more difficult.
In yet another interview, Priebus admitted he wasnt sure whether he felt the former businessman was the partys best candidate.
I dont know, Priebus said on NBCs Meet the Press. Listen, I dont worry about who is the strongest candidate.
Further suggesting Trump was undeterred by the criticism were demands he made during a rally in Wisconsin whose pivotal primary on Tuesday will put for up grabs another 96 delegates that Kasich drop out of the GOP race.

There is both *on the ballat and *write-in eligible. They are generally 2 separate issues.
Yes he can.
It is entirely possible.
Logical fallacy: Ad hominem.
Also, you’re throwing a temper tantrum on the level of libbylu before she rode the lightning.
Just sayin’.
Its Trump and his supporters threatening to elect Hillary if he doesnt get his way.
That is the theme of this thread.
I don't support terrorists. If Trump supporters support Hillary over Cruz that just proves they are Dems.
If Trump wants to win the nomination he should play by the rules he agreed to, not make them up as he goes along.
No one forced him to run as a Republican.
Promises mean about as much to Trump as they do to Obama. Telling.
He should be clear about the difference between losing fair and square to another candidate vs. being screwed over by the party making rule changes or convincing delegates to vote for an as-yet unnamed candidate.
So, 1236 gets us Ryan?
He always said there was an issue of fair treatment.
Actually, I don’t think that even needs to be verbalized. I would EXPECT a candidate treated without integrity to jump party.
Wouldn’t you?
How do you know who he voted for? Because he says so? Please. There is nothing about Trump that says Republican. His policies are not conservative. He has no idea how conservatives think. He’s a liberal trying to impersonate a conservative. The image of a conservative that he portrays is not a true conservative but rather the liberal caricature of a conservative, which is the only image of a conservative that he knows. He slips up from time to time on his disguise. Like when he blamed Bush for 911. Like when he trashed Scott Walker for not increasing taxes. He’s just a parasite trying to feed off the GOP. If it won’t nominate him then he’ll run as an independent. Frankly his policies are so not Republican that it would be OK with me if one of the other GOP candidates ran as a third party candidate against Trump if he is nominated. Turn about is fair play. Trump created this divide. Now let’s see him try to bridge it.
Do you seriously believe that, or is it just election year hyperbole?
The other candidates and the RNC haven’t lived up to their end of the bargain, so DJT is released from his end of it.
I wish he would run third party. The current Trump supporters would vote for him. Then you add the people who like to do the “cool” thing, e.g., vote for Obama ‘cause he’s black — or vote for a third-party candidate because it’s out of the ordinary. Put them in the equation and things could get interesting.
I have voted Republican since 1980 and I am ready to jump ship if Trump is nominated. So it works both ways.
To go where, exactly?
Wont do him any good. In some states, there is a rule that if you lose in a primary, you cant run on another partys ticket.
“Trump can stop that right now by pulling out and backing Cruz, if he really LOVES America “
Yeah; because Cruz has done so much for America already. [s]
Summary:
Blah blah blah, ad hominem ad hominem, insulting nickname, personal insults to me, blah blah blah blah.
Sorry, if you want to throw yourself to the ground and throw a tantrum, be my guest, but don’t expect me to do anything except point out how immature you are.
It's not who VOTES, it's who COUNTS the votes!
No because NY said so:
It would seem being on the ballot would be necessary to have a chance at getting enough votes to win a state. The parties have made it difficult for write-in candidates to gain much traction; they've even made it tough for 3rd parties.
I wouldn't say that it's an impossible task, but the track record of independent or 3rd party runs is pretty scarce with success stories, especially on the presidential level. I believe Murkowski won her Senate reelection as a write-in, but hers was a rare case.
Even Teddy Roosevelt, a former president, fell far short of beating the two parties in 1912. (He did trounce the GOP candidate, though).
