On the eve of the Wisconsin primaries, top Republicans are becoming increasingly vocal about their long-held belief that Speaker Paul Ryan will wind up as the nominee, perhaps on the fourth ballot at a chaotic Cleveland convention.
One of the nations best-wired Republicans, with an enviable prediction record for this cycle, sees a 60 percent chance of a convention deadlock and a 90 percent chance that delegates turn to Ryan ergo, a 54 percent chance that Ryan, wholl start the third week of July as chairman of the Republican National Convention, will end it as the nominee.

Trump has had a golden opportunity in the last 4 weeks to appear more presidential and attempt to unite the party and he refuses to do so. My entire extended family is horrified of Trump and all but one claim they will never vote for him in November - they all love Cruz. On the other hand, if Cruz steals the nomination (playing by the rules established years ago), the nomination won't be worth having because most Trump supporters will sit out or worse vote for Hillary.
So the solution, is for Trump to start showing his strength, getting 50% or close to it in the remaining primaries, show an attempt to understand policy and actually speak to the issues in a way that conveys a decent level of cogency and not tweet about Megyn or Heidi.
These things are in Trump's control. If he can do these things, a lot of concern will fall away, and he can reassure those who are presently horrified about his candidacy. It will take discipline. Does Trump have any?
Gonna lmao when ted loses on the second ballot they will never choose that lying alpha hotel
It's most probably the future with Trump too. The sooner we look past this election the better.
“Cruz is being used to block Trump. He doesnt understand hell NEVER be in their club.”
I agree. He must be delusional, if he thinks he will get anything out of this.
Absolutely no one I talk to will vote Cruz.
What can Cruz or Trump people do? Where can we go? We vote for Ryan or Mittens or who ever they select or it goes to Hillary. I say we call bolt the party and vote 3rd party to help wreck the GOPe. We can’t be forced to support the GOPe just because we do not like Hillary or Sanders. Maybe a Commie would be a good choice—4 years of his misrule will make Obama look lke a savant.
I agree with you about his penchant for drama and bombastic outbursts. Its often unbecoming of him and certainly not presidential. Even his wife recognizes this! lol
Trump is new to the political process, and it often shows. At 69/70 can he make the transition from his business world persona and nonpareil street brawler into a more disciplined statesmanlike character? You have hit on what is perhaps the defining issue for him in his campaign for president.
Trump has given voice to very important issues which many people, who are seriously angry about the direction this country is going in, care deeply about. For that we owe him a debt of gratitude. I also think he may be the only person who can effectively deal with the unchecked invasion of immigrants into our country that is becoming an existential threat to our nation as we know it.
Cruz had a big, and well deserved win last night, no question about it. Ironically this might be the “cold shot” Trump needs to convince him to up his game and to (as you so aptly put it) “actually speak to the issues in a way that conveys a decent level of cogency”. That could be his key to winning.
I think maybe its like...
Anderl Meier: Youre very good. I have really enjoyed climbing with you.
Dr. Jonathan Hemlock: Well make it.
Anderl Meier: I dont think so. But we shall continue with style.

Whats Cruz sposed to do, jump off the mountain?
Commit Seppuku with a pocket knife?
Onward and Upward.
I'll provide the matches.
Two time loser on a national ticket and then get primaried out of his House seat.
WY (not WI) might bolt but not too many others.
“How is Cruz supposed to get the nomination again?”
He isn’t. Question isn’t whether Cruz will get it, question is whether they steal it from Trump. Here’s the catch. The GOPe wants Hillary in office. This way they keep their cushy jobs and it will be the voters who turn away that will give it to them.
For the GOPe, stealing the nomination from him was the game plan. They needed to do two things. Keep a RINO in the race for contrast and pit Trump and Cruz against each other to a point where neither will be liked by their supporters and most of all, neither will support each other.
They accomplished both. If this blood feud never happened, Trump still wins the nomination, Cruz gets ready for a seat on the Supreme Court and the GOPe dies a horrible death and from the ashes rises the Conservative GOP.
But nooooooo. As always we stole defeat from the jaws of victory
