Cruz snaring Trump's Arizona delegates
Washington Examiner ^ | 04/04/16 | David M. Drucker

Sen. Ted Cruz is out-hustling Donald Trump and looks set to ensure many Arizona delegates will defect to him in a convention floor fight.

The Texas senator, who ever since Iowa has played a stealthy ground game in contrast to Trump's chaotic populism, is taking steps to snatch the Republican presidential nomination from The Donald at the convention in July.

The New York businessman easily won last month's Arizona primary taking 47 percent to Cruz's 25 percent, scooping up all 58 of the state's delegates. That's nearly 5 percent of the 1,237 Trump needs for the nomination, and they're tied are to him on the first ballot.

But Cruz, exploiting deep opposition to Trump among grassroots Republicans, has been far more active in Arizona than Trump, insiders say. He's recruiting candidates for the available 55 delegate slots, that along with the other three delegate positions filled by party leaders, would be allowed to vote for him in a multi-ballot contested convention.

>>we the people need to freaking DEMAND an end to the political party machinations. The founders of the country warned against the power of political parties, G. Washington in particular warned about this in his Farewell Address.

Yes. I wonder how, excluding violence, we the people can make this corruption go away. If they have a choke hold on their private little system, other than our voices and DJT, what can actually be done? That’s what I wonder about.

And party politics have given us so much to cheer about the last, oh, 28 years. (not)

Cruz, working the machine. Promising lucrative government jobs to the delegates should a convention fight ensue.

if that’s the case then Trump goes back to his 10 billion dollar company and Cruz tries to defeat the Democrat without any of Trump’s voters in November.. how’s that going to work out for ya?

Well, either the delegates Cruz kifes will vote a few thousand times apiece in the general election - or Cruz is trying to throw the election to the Queen of the Uniparty...

On a side note - Trump has already set himself up to be head of a Shadow Party, like in England.

"I told you so!" all day long, every day. And his MILLIONS of voters will eat it up, and the stewpot of rage against the pols will be boiling merrily from 2016-2020. LOL! :)

Dems have been known to put up more of a fight against Obama than the R’s have.

If anyone is going to cement O’s policy, it will be your GOP.

Did I claim it proves anything?

No doubt this is the handiwork of “Trump’s henchman”, right?

Cruz = amnesty

Yet, isn't it Trump whose position has devolved into "touchback amnesty"? Or worse, if the New York Times editorial board is to be believed.

Meanwhile, Cruz is campaigning on securing the border and removing every illegal -- with no right of return if they don't self-deport.

Just a little FYI....

Maybe you Trump supporters should do a little less posting about Cruz being from Canada, Vote for Cruz is a vote for Hillary etc and maybe get a little more involved in Republican politics. Just a thought.

If that means getting involved with the GOP establishment, like Cruz and you have done, that's a big NO THANKS! (there are some harsher things I would have liked to have posted, but I'll try to keep it civil).

So winning states and getting more votes does not apply to you. I am so sick of people of the establishment like you who defend their corruption.

These Cruz supporters are getting really bad and devoid of all reality with what they are doing. They've gone from fan to fanatic.

They don't care if they screw us out of having a chance for a real opposition party to the Uniparty or the mess going on in Washington DC. They have become fanatics for the corrupt status quo whether they understand that or not.

Once upon a time we all wanted to end the establishment and now we have some helping the establishment get what they want. Their contested convention.

Cruz is not stealing a thing. This is how the convention works (and has always worked).

So, you still playing identity politics with Ted Cruz?

Since he and the establishment has identified Cruz as the principled conservative, that's all you hear and ignore everything else?

By everything else I mean the vetting of Ted Cruz that has happened here & elsewhere. It shows he's far from a principle conservative and just another professional politician that is part of the corrupt GOP establishment.

By all means, keep playing identity politics and ignore everything else.

This isn’t the case. An American citizen cannot lose their citizenship to, say, Canada, by default. It involves an affirmative statement, positive legal action, and a fee.

What was Trump's plan for selecting delegates who would be loyal to him after the first vote? Surely he wasn't just going to leave it to chance?

Surely he was organizing at the grassroots level to put forward and elect favorable delegates at the county, district and state level? What campaign wouldn't do that as a contingency plan for votes two and beyond? Was he just hoping that whatever delegates were assigned to him would be loyal after the first vote?

It’s funny how you bring up the “tyranny of the majority” to fit your agenda but FAIL TO SEE the real “tyranny of the majority” going on in this election.

That is, with the Dem Party, the GOP establishment, the enemedia, Wall St cronies, etc as a majority coming together to try to take down one American citizen, a true outsider, Donald Trump.

THAT IS THE REAL TYRANNY GOING ON! So many of you fail to see it and our chance at real change and the opportunity to become a real opposition party to that “tyranny of the majority” corruption going on in Washington DC.

Open your freakin’ eyes for crying out loud!

In most “runoff” elections, the voter’s vote doesn’t get changed by somebody else.

Trump also gave $6,000 ($5K in 9/2011 and $1K in 2/2013) for Kamala Harris’s re-election campaign for California attorney general (2014 election). The poster child for sanctuary cities. How do Trump’s supporters square that?

Cruz is a constitutional conservative, and he would make an excellent President. You trying to paint Cruz as establishment makes me laugh. He is more anti-establishment that Trump. Trump is a pro-choice, big government liberal who has supported liberals and liberal policies for decades. The Democrats have destroyed this country, and Trump was funding their campaigns.

Do you realize you have bought in to the Dem party/GOPe/enemedia's narrative of Trump? The narrative is applying how he run his successful business the same as his politics.

THEY ARE TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THINGS! He has never been a politician before.

We are now just finding out where he stands when it comes to politics and it is patriotic and GOOD for this country. It's also good for conservatism in the long run if we can destroy the GOP establishment and get them out of the way.

I used to like Ted Cruz until he got in to bed with said corrupt GOP establishment, that is fact and so many people here are trying to tell you that but you ignore it.

Contested convention. That’s the general idea.

1st ballot with abstentions no result.
2nd ballot all voting Cruz
3rd ballot V.P. Rubio.

Cruz/Rubio. As intended by the base in the first place.

Over 50% of the Latino/Hispanic vote.
85% + of the base vote.

PATH TO VICTORY.

Don’t speak for me as a Hispanic American voter. I, nor many I know would NOT vote for that corrupt combo. Basing our vote just because Cruz and Rubio are Latino/Hispanic is just idiotic. Go sell your BS somewhere else.

RE:”I DO NOT WANT PAUL RYAN TO BE THE NOMINEE”

Then support Cruz, unite behind Cruz.

Tell Trump to pledge his delegates to Cruz to beat Ryan.

Don't go liberal (Trump). they have always failed.
