Cruz snaring Trump's Arizona delegates
Washington Examiner ^ | 04/04/16 | David M. Drucker

Sen. Ted Cruz is out-hustling Donald Trump and looks set to ensure many Arizona delegates will defect to him in a convention floor fight.

The Texas senator, who ever since Iowa has played a stealthy ground game in contrast to Trump's chaotic populism, is taking steps to snatch the Republican presidential nomination from The Donald at the convention in July.

The New York businessman easily won last month's Arizona primary taking 47 percent to Cruz's 25 percent, scooping up all 58 of the state's delegates. That's nearly 5 percent of the 1,237 Trump needs for the nomination, and they're tied are to him on the first ballot.

But Cruz, exploiting deep opposition to Trump among grassroots Republicans, has been far more active in Arizona than Trump, insiders say. He's recruiting candidates for the available 55 delegate slots, that along with the other three delegate positions filled by party leaders, would be allowed to vote for him in a multi-ballot contested convention.

Then that means it’s not Trumps fault that Cruz can’t win the popular vote and has less than half the number of states won than Trump. Wouldn’t you rather have your candidate win by his own merit and by popular support? Not by being a slick lawyer who exploits the rules? That means you can’t criticize Trump for any prior campaign donations or bankruptcies because he was just using our laws to his advantage, just like Cruz.

The problem with America is we have stupid leaders that negotiate bad trade deals. Trump who is smart will appoint smart people to negotiate great trade deals and make America great.

Hopefully the people running Trump trade are smarter than the people running Trump's state convention teams.

[This action telegraphs that Cruz himself knows he can’t win 1,237 delegates.]

Trump’s whining telegraphs that he knows he can’t win 1,237 delegates.

-"What is wrong with that?"

If you really believe that, then you and all you screwed up "Republican" voters, deserve Paul Ryan and the rest of the BS politicians that have killed "conservatism".

When will you realize that in “party” politics, votes in primaries for presidential elections are just window dressing. They only form the basis for allocating delegates, not for the candidate. Again, the uninformed American public is duped by the media.

The difference is that Trump battles hard and wins the support of the voters. That IS yuge!

Cruz battles hard to subvert the will of the people by pressuring the delegates to betray the actual winner and vote for the losing candidate.

When Cruz pressures these delegates to betray the voters, what, exactly, is he offering them in return, or what threat is he holding over them?

This is truly an ugly aspect of politics that I do not associate with conservatism. Cruz is not at all what he claims to be.

Here is a line I usually reserve for the Democrats:

“If we win big enough it won’t matter that they cheated!”

Go Trump!

so another words what the voters want doesn’t matter it’s who you can manipulate with political hacks overriding the people’s choice?.. yeah that’s why people despise Cruz..

if that’s the case then Trump goes back to his 10 billion dollar company and Cruz tries to defeat the Democrat without any of Trump’s voters in November.. how’s that going to work out for ya?

You DO know Trump will run third party then right? ensuring Hillary the nomination?

Not necessarily. It may insure no one gets the 270 electoral votes necessary to get the win, thus throwing the process to the U.S. House of Representatives.

Alternatively when he [Trump] won engaging sleazy tactics, he and his drones said that’s all that matters, anything else is sore losers.
- - - - - -
What sleazy tactics has Donald Trump used to win? Holding massive rallies that attract thousands of people? Maybe you think “branding” opponents is sleazy? “Low energy JEB!”, “Lyin’ Ted!” Yeah, that has got to hurt! ;-)

- - - - - -
Trump cant stand competition. It makes him mad.
- - - - - -
Well, grasshopper, the objective of this game is to eliminate your competition from contention. Which is what seems to be happening on a regular basis.

Duck and dodge all you want. It’s totally dishonorable and speaks volumes about St. Ted’s. haracter-—or, more appropriately, lack thereof.

Cruz is a constitutional conservative, and he would make an excellent President. You trying to paint Cruz as establishment makes me laugh. He is more anti-establishment that Trump. Trump is a pro-choice, big government liberal who has supported liberals and liberal policies for decades. The Democrats have destroyed this country, and Trump was funding their campaigns.

Trump battles with the people and wins.

Cruz battles with dirty tricks and pay insiders and steals votes.

I disagree, I think this proves Trump is ready for the job because he is more focused on winning by gaining the people’s support than shady schemes and underhanded tactics. It shows he wants to win the honest way, on the first ballot, rather than delegate manipulation.

If Trump was stealing Cruz’s delegates, all Cruz supporters would be calling him a thief and corrupt...

Yeah, go “mr. constitution.” Undermine the will of the people at every opportunity.

Please stop whining, politics ain’t beanbag.

The rules for EACH state were published before Trump or Cruz entered the process. The define ‘The Art of the Deal’ for getting the nomination. If Trump is too lazy or stupid to understand the rules or hire the best people as he claims he will that is HIS problem and he is the one screwing his voters.

I am glad Cruz is doing all he can to make MY vote count.

RE:”This is how Patriots talk. Clearly you ain’t among ‘en, Pee Wee.”

Liberals keep saying that this country is a Democracy, just like Trumpeters do.

They seem to think an RNC convention is one too.

You seem to think the GOPe is going to be in charge at the convention. That is incorrect. The remaining establishment will be lucky to get a ticket to it.

Donny the Demonrat Donor is the only one breathing life into the almost dead establishment. His daily statements of stupidity are only helping them.

We'll survive him. Once at the convention we can be rid of him along with the rest of the establishment types.

LET NOT YOUR HEART BE TROUBLED.

Jedi.
