The other day when I got bumped off and tries to sign back in the message was “welcome back anonymous lurker”. I thought it was odd but was able to get back on so didn’t bother Jim with it

Open up with “hosts” file with notepad.
And add this line.
“209.157.64.200 www.freerepublic.com”
You may have to change the permissions to the “hosts” file under “Users” for the file to accept or save the addition.
Click on properties and the tab “security” and highlight the “Users” line.
Check mark the boxes “full control” which should also automatically check the boxes for “modify” and “write”.
click “apply” or “OK” for dialog box.
You are done and back on FR. :)"

I’m in Greene County NY. After dumping 10 inches of snow on us yesterday, the weather dropped down to MINUS 1. Crazy!! On April 1, it was 73. I hope the fruit trees survive.
I think I saw a post, on the other thread, that Jim is looking into/working on this DNS problem.
Similar problem here but no snow and just getting down to freezing. Fruit was in full bloom

The alternative is to hard code the DNS servers your computer uses.
Select the connection you want to use. Click TCP/IP, and set the DNS from there. I would use openDNS.com 208.67.222.222 208.67.220.220 control panel network connections right click connection, properties TCP/IP Properties Where it lists DNS servers
If a name, IP address pair is found in the "hosts" file, your system won't look further to find the correct address.
I kept getting knocked off the other day and “anonymous lurker” would pop up on my welcome back page. Since I could go to previous activity I didn’t think that much about it till now. Is there a freeper named anonymous lurker ?
