You can see the exact moment last week that Donald Trump made up his mind on whether women would face criminal punishment once he signed new restrictions into law. He is at a town hall with MSNBCs Chris Matthews, and, after Matthews badgers him for a while, he finally answers the question.
The answer is ... that, Trump says, eyes looking to the side in thought, there has to be some form of punishment. He punctuates has with a hand gesture. Done. Final.
But as it turns out and as it has turned out repeatedly over the course of his life that was not, in fact, Trumps final position on the subject. This past week alone, he has held multiple contradicting positions, including that one. So we figured that a timeline was in order, so that you could see the date and time and know, concretely, what Trumps abortion position was at that moment.
Though he might deny it.
April 1989
Trump co-sponsored a dinner at the Plaza Hotel in Manhattan (which he then owned) honoring Robin Chandler Duke, a former president of NARAL. He chose not to attend, the New York Times reported, after his family was threatened by anti-abortion activists.
Oct. 24, 1999
Ten years later, Trump appeared on NBC in an interview with Tim Russert.
Asked about abortion, hes clear.
Im very pro-choice, Trump says. I hate the concept of abortion. I hate it. I hate everything it stands for. I cringe when I listen to people debating the subject. But you still I just believe in choice.
Russert clarifies his original point: Would you ban partial-birth abortion? No, Trump replies...

He will do the same with the border wall -- his most consistent position -- whenever the winds blow that way.
Trump has been for a partial birth abortion ban since 2000. He wrote about it in his book “The America We Deserve.”.
TID Kitty is sleeping now, but will pop up in the morning! ;-)
Trump has no core beliefs.

Abortion is a moot point currently. SCOTUS would have to be over ridden.
Borders jobs and Islamic threat are biggest priorities
He believes only in his own self-importance. He has the same psychopathology as Obama.
Wikipedia:
Narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) is a personality disorder in which a person is excessively preoccupied with personal adequacy, power, prestige and vanity, mentally unable to see the destructive damage they are causing to themselves and often others. That is the definition of Trump.People with narcissistic personality disorder are characterized by exaggerated feelings of self-importance. They have a sense of entitlement and demonstrate grandiosity in their beliefs and behavior. They have a strong need for admiration, but lack feelings of empathy.
The next president will shape SCOTUS for decades, starting on day 1 with the Scalia replacement.
The Senate will shape SCOTUS regardless
It’s ok. He can do no wrong here. A few years back you’d be banned from FR for supporting him.
Trump has not yet learned to negotiate the minefield of discussing when women are allowed to murder their babies. That is not a disqualifying flaw, just a sign that hes human and not a specialist on politically correct nuance (theres an understatement!). In the case of abortion, it’s worth changing his words to calm the political fussing, since even the president and Congress combined cannot do much to change the law directly.
For me, errors on subtleties of abortion are not a disqualifying trait. Abortion comes down to Roe v. Wade. Until that is overturned, the details of an anti-abortion presidents position do not matter. Trump has said for five years that h opposes abortion. I accepted Reagan’s conversion after a few years and voted for him - twice. I am comfortable doing the same for Trump.
Trump appears to have core beliefs, but they have changed over the course of several years. Most of us were okay with Reagan's change. Why is Trump changing any different?
If Trump gets to 1237 delegates, he will get my vote. The GOPe does not support Cruz, but for some reason they seem to hate Trump more right now.
Way to go Donald!
What a classy guy!!!
Go bathe, peasant, your act is beginning to smell ripe.
Reagan did not change his mind during the 1980 primary. And he did not switch back and forth repeatedly. And he could articulate why abortion is wrong.
